\nof the Tanzania Episcopal Conference (TEC) has joined other relief agencies in
\npouring relief aid to the residents of Kilosa district in Morogoro diocese who
\nwere left homeless and displaced in the aftermath of the torrential rains that
\nsubmerged sections of their villages last week. <\/div>\n
\n <\/div>\n
\nCaritas team
\nthat visited the place said that the flood has left hundreds of people homeless
\nand emergency aid was really vital in order to save the lives of the people
\naffected. <\/div>\n
\n <\/div>\n
\nThe Coordinator
\nof Caritas: Gender, Youth and Children section said the calamity has also
\naffected  women psychologically as they had
\nnothing left in possession for their children and families.  <\/div>\n
\n <\/div>\n
\nReports from
\nTanzania said that about 12,472 residents have been displaced from their home<\/p>\n
\n<\/a><\/div>\n

by floods; A number of houses have collapsed and until the end of last week
\nsome buildings were still under water.<\/p>\n

\nThe affected
\ncommunities are living in camps that have been established by the government authorities
\nin some existing schools and public buildings. Other affected communities are
\nstaying in tents donated by Tanzania Red Cross National Society, while some are
\nliving with their relatives and friends.<\/p>\n

Already
\nthere were some fears of the cholera outbreak because of poor hygienic facilities
\nat those places the victims stay. The government has deployed the Tanzania
\nPeople\u2019s Defense Force (TPDF) to assist in rectifying the situation and provide
\nemergency services. <\/p>\n

\nThe
\nGovernment has asked donors and other people of good will to provide support to
\nthe affected people as it plans for a long term solutions. The support the
\ngovernment was asking was food, clothes, water, and mosquito nets to prevent
\nthem from Malaria disease.  <\/div>\n
