Tens of people from Lilongwe and outside attended the AMECEA
\nFundraising Dinner which was held at the President’s Hotel in Lilongwe last
\nFriday 14, 2014.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n <\/div>\n
\nThe event, which coincided with the Valentine Bash was
\norganized by the AMECEA Publicity and Fundraising Sub-Committees with an
\nintention of raising funds for the coming 18th AMECEA Plenary
\nAssembly to be held from 16 -26 July 2014 in Lilongwe. <\/div>\n
\n <\/div>\n
\nThe event was also attended by Malawi’s Charge’ D’Affairs,
\nMonsignor Hubertus Matheus Maria Van Megen, who was the Guest of honor; the
\nSecretary General for the Episcopal Conference of Malawi, Fr. George Buleya and
\nhis Deputy, Fr. Emmanuel Chimombo among others. <\/div>\n
\n <\/div>\n
\nSpeaking during the event Monsignor Van Megen commended
\nChristians and other well-wishers across the country for patronizing the
\nfunction. He said the AMECEA conference is crucial to the Catholic Church and
\nthe member nations at large. <\/div>\n
\n <\/div>\n
\n“The AMECEA conference has eight member countries, and
\nwith this conference unity of the Church is made manifest. The Church in these
\ncountries has many things in common, which include culture and socio-economic
\nand political challenges, hence the need for a common approach,” he
\nsaid.  <\/div>\n
\n <\/div>\n
\nSpeaking after the event the Chairperson of the main
\norganizing committee Mr Peter Kulemeka commended the AMECEA Publicity and
\nFundraising Sub-Committees chaired by Saulos Chilima and Dr. Mary Shaba
\nrespectively for planning various fund raising strategies including that one
\nwhich was colorful and successful.<\/div>\n
\n <\/div>\n
\n“As you saw for yourself the patronage was so
\nimpressive and I would like to thank the committee which was assigned to
\nunder-take the activities in preparation to this great event. It has been
\ncolorful, meaning that the committee prepared well. I would also like to thank
\nthose that patronized the event, the Catholics and other well-wishers. I thank
\nthem all for the support that they have rendered to us,\u201d he said. <\/div>\n
\n <\/div>\n
\nMr Kulemeka said that the committee is overwhelmed with the
\nsupport so far rendered by Christians and other well-wishers ahead of the
\nplenary which will take place in Malawi from July 16 to 26 this year. <\/div>\n
\n <\/div>\n
\nHe then challenged Christians especially Catholics in the
\ncountry to come fourth and support the AMECEA plenary through their financial
\nand material support. <\/div>\n
\n <\/div>\n
\nThe Fundraising event was spiced up with the performance of
\nMibawa Band which performed a number of copy right songs. <\/div>\n
\n <\/div>\n
\nThe Committee has since lined up other activities in the
\nnear future like the renewal of Marriage vows, and possibly a Football bonanza.\n<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
