\nJustice and Peace Executive Secretaries and the National Caritas Directors from
\nthe AMECEA member countries participated in the launching of the KCCB National
\nLenten Campaign whose theme is \u201cPeaceful & Prosperous Kenya \u2013 My
\nResponsibility\u201d. <\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nThe
\ncolorful event led by Rt. Rev. Cornelius Kipng\u2019eno Arap Korir, Bishop of
\nEldoret (Chairman of the Justice and Peace Commission) and Rt. Rev. John Oballa
\nOwaa, Bishop of Ngong (Vice Chairman of the Kenyan Conference of Catholic
\nBishops).<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nThis
\nwas an opportunity for the heads of the social departments from the conferences
\nin the AMECEA region to share knowledge and experiences during the first
\nCaritas Directors and Justice and Peace Executive Secretaries joint meeting,
\norganized by AMECEA Justice Peace and Caritas Department.  <\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n\u201cI
\nthought there was very little to learn from this event.  I however, wish I could have brought more
\npeople from my country and hopefully our Bishops to see how Kenya is doing its
\nLenten campaign,\u201d remarked one of the participants.   <\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nDuring
\nthe homily Bishop Korir made reference to Laudato
\nSi<\/i> in reference to the plastics<\/div>\n
\n<\/a><\/div>\n

dumping site in Ngong which is right in
\nfront of the Cathedral. He asked the local authorities to act fast so that the
\nplastics are removed and disposed in a more environment friendly manner.  In reference to the same plastics, the Bishop
\nOballa decried the indifference being experienced by the authorities and hoped
\nthat the launch of the campaign in Ngong would highlight the need to change our
\nhearts.  He also asked that the message
\nof the Lenten campaign be sent across the entire AMECEA region.<\/p>\n

\n<\/div>\n
\nOn
\nher part Beatrice Odera, who is the National Catholic Justice and Peace
\nCoordinator thanked her AMECEA colleagues and other catholic partners for
\nstanding in solidarity with Kenya, during the launch and hoped that AMECEA
\nJustice Peace and Caritas would organize more occasions such as this where
\nconferences can have an opportunity to learn from each other.<\/div>\n
