\nIn 1968, AMECEA started the first social
\ncommunications Department in Africa, the first Regional Conference in Africa to
\nestablish Social Communications department and now again AMECEA is the first to
\nstart ICT office said Rev. Fr. Joseph Healey, MM who is the first coordinator
\nof AMECEA Social Communications Department.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nSpeaking during the official launch of the AMECEA
\nICT Coordination office at the Secretariat in Nairobi on Saturday 6th, February
\nFr. Joseph Healey said, \u201cBecause of this achievement, we want to be humble but
\nat the same time be proud that AMECEA is moving ahead.\u201d<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n\u201cWith the official inauguration of the AMECEA ICT Coordination
\nOffice at the Secretariat, we are embarking on a very important step in our
\nactivities as AMECEA, not just as the secretariat but also as a regional conference
\nthat brings together a good number of Bishops and this initiative means a lot
\nfor the evangelization work in the region,\u201d said AMECEA Secretary General Rev. Fr.
\nFerdinand Lugonzo.<\/div>\n

\n\u201cAs we celebrate this milestone, we are also
\ncelebrating our friends and partners who have made it possible that the ICT
\noffice is inaugurated and functional within AMECEA,\u201d he added.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nAlso speaking at the event, The AMECEA Social Communication Coordinator, Rev Fr Chrisantus Ndaga said that the launching of the office is the beginning of the long journey in the ICT world. He was  grateful with what had been achieved so far. <\/p>\n

The ICT Officer at AMECEA Mr. Bernard Mberere
\nexplained that since the office started operating in January 2016, a number of
\nactivities have been achieved. These included relocating the ICT equipment, robust
\nre-installation of local area network as well as additions of wireless network capacities,
\nmaintenance of staff computers and secure internet connections and setting up of
\nan ICT Office. <\/p><\/div>\n
