COLEA participants in session<\/i><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
\nThe participation of men in major Church movements
\nand associations including Small Christian Communities is still minimal in many
\ncountries within the AMECEA Region. The revelation emerged during the
\ndeliberations on various reports at the Council for Laity in Eastern Africa
\n(COLEA) conference held in Lusaka Zambia from 16th -20th
\nMarch 2016.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nParticipants from various countries expressed the
\nchallenge of lack of commitments from men when it comes to associations and
\njoining prayer groups or movements. From Kenya, the national chairman of
\nCatholic Men Association said that because of the minimal participation and
\ninvolvement of men in forums such as the Small Christian Communities, the
\nimpact of their activities as Catholic Men Association is very minimal. The
\nsame sentiments were shared from counterpart from Zambia who said that while the
\nNational Council for Catholic Women in Zambia (NCCW) and the National Council
\nfor Catholic Youth in Zambia are well established with huge impact across the
\ncountry, men are not yet well established.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nIt also emerged that some dioceses have well
\nestablished Catholic men associations and other movements for men and their
\nparticipation in the Small Christian Communities is fairly well, however, the
\nmajorities of the dioceses do not have well established Catholic Men
\nassociations and movements while still acknowledging that their participations
\nin the Small Christian communities is relatively low.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nFr. Febian Mulenga Pikiti, Coordinator of AMECEA
\nPastoral Department explained that the Church needs to find ways and means of
\nintegrating men and women in the parish life and the ecclesiastical structure
\nso that they remain bonded to Christ the true vine. <\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nHe observed that among the Lay movements and
\nassociations, the Catholic Women is the most successful in almost all the
\nAMECEA Countries. <\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
