Cleophas Lungu said that voter education is a priority given<br \/>\nthat the period for registration has been reduced by a month. <\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\nFr Lungu urged political parties to take the<br \/>\nopportunity to encourage the public to come out in big numbers and register as<br \/>\nvoters.&nbsp; <\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\nFr. Lungu further recommended that voter education<br \/>\nshould start right away for that there are new issues in the electoral process<br \/>\ndue to the amendment of the constitution which people need to know them before<br \/>\nthe exercise.&nbsp; <\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\nCCMG has pleaded to the ECZ to safeguard the<br \/>\nelectoral equipment\/kits which in the past have been reported stolen from the<br \/>\nregistration centres. CCMG stated that in order to avoid speculations and<br \/>\nmalpractices in the electoral process, the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ)<br \/>\nshould issue a statement to update the public about the equipment\/kits that<br \/>\nwere stolen during the mobile voter registration. <\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\nFr. Lungu said that having witnessed violence in<br \/>\nthe period under review, CCMG is appealing to all political parties to refrain<br \/>\nfrom acts of violence including hate speech, physical violence and harassment<br \/>\nand declaring \u201cno go zone areas\u201d for some parties during campaigns; instead CCMG<br \/>\nwants all political parties to observe and abide with the rule of law. <\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\nOn another hand CCMG also recommends to the<br \/>\nZambian Police Service to be professional in the execution of their duties and to<br \/>\nthe media houses CCMG wants them to report issues credibly and accurately;<br \/>\nwithout fear or favour. \u201cMedia houses should be objectively to avoid<br \/>\npartisanship and bias in their news coverage,\u201d he said.<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\nThe Christian Churches Monitoring Group (CCMG) was<br \/>\nlaunched on 28th November 2014 to monitor the 20th January 2015 presidential<br \/>\nelection. It is made up of four Faith-Based organizations.
