\nThe
\nPastoral Department of the Episcopal Conference of Malawi (ECM) has reprinted
\nthe New Catholic Answer Bible,<\/i>
\ninitially published by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB).<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nAccording
\nto ECM Pastoral Coordinator Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Chimombo, the Revised Edition has
\nbeen authorized for production in print through the agreement by and between
\nthe USCCB and ECM and was printed and bound by Korean Bible Society (South
\nKorea).<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n\u201cThere
\nhas always been a need for something that Catholics, especially young people, who
\nneeded an answer question reference material for which they refer to, once they
\nare challenged<\/p>\n
\n<\/a><\/div>\n

by members of other religions on all aspects of the Catholic
\nfaith.\u201d Fr Chimombo said adding that \u201cI discovered the Question and Answer
\nBible, when I visited the US two years ago, and my immediate thought was on how
\nI could buy as many copies as I could to bring it home. The cost of buying and
\nshipment proved a challenge but this did not deter my determination. I soon
\nrealized that we could explore other options and that was when the idea of a
\nreprint came to my mind.\u201d <\/p><\/div>\n

\nFr
\nChimombo said that on his return to his country, he presented his discovery to
\nthe Bishops who fully supported him, and consultations were made after which
\nthey signed a five years contract with USCCB who authorized them to reprint as
\nmany copies as they wanted.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n\u201cWhen
\nwe got the authorization, we wanted to print the Bible home in Malawi at the
\nMontfort Printing Press; unfortunately, they did not have the right material, that
\nis the special paper for printing. That\u2019s why we went to Korea and luckily we managed
\nthe cost,\u201d he said.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nECM has
\na five-year contract with USCCB and during the period they can produce as many
\ncopies as they want and according to Fr. Chimombo, this depends on how the faithful
\nwill respond to it, something which can make the agreement period extended. <\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nHe
\nsaid that so far the conference has produced 10,000 copies which is in
\naccordance with their budget. \u201cWe do hope that we can print some more copies,\u201d
\nhe said adding \u201cWe want each and every Catholic in Malawi to have a copy and so
\nwe want to produce as many copies as we can before the end of our contract.\u201d<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nThe
\nnew bible has been authorized by the Bishops and that the Pastoral Department plans
\nto run a special advert to popularize it for people to buy.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
