Emmanuel Chimombo<\/i><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\nSince the year 2011, the Catholic Church in Malawi has been<br \/>\nmarking the month of September of every year to be specifically for the<br \/>\npromotion of Biblical Apostolate. Through the Bishops\u2019 Conference, the<br \/>\ntradition has been that the Bishops are requested to inaugurate the Bible Month<br \/>\non the first Sunday of September at their Cathedral, with a bible procession and<br \/>\nBible enthronement.<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\nUsually every year has a theme to guide Christians in their Bible<br \/>\nReflections throughout the year. The theme for this year is \u201c<b><i>God<br \/>\nrich in Mercy<\/i><\/b>\u201d which is in conformity with the Jubilee Year of Mercy.<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n\u201cWe are encouraging people to be inspired by the Word of God. We<br \/>\nbelieve that the Word of God is the Light and the source of everything we do.<br \/>\nTherefore, inspired by the Apostolic Exhortation <b><i>Verbum Domini<\/i><\/b> of the Holy<br \/>\nFather Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, with reference to article 17, which says<br \/>\nthat <i>\u2026If we want to carry out our work effectively<br \/>\nwe must be inspired by the Holy Gospel\u2026<\/i> we took it as the Episcopal Conference<br \/>\nto say that every work we do must be inspired by the Gospel,\u201d explained Rev.<br \/>\nFr. Emmanuel Chimombo, National Pastoral Coordinator for Episcopal Conference<br \/>\nof Malawi ECM.<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n\u201cSeveral activities are encouraged during this period, among them,<br \/>\nChristians are encouraged to give gifts of a Bible to one another. Apart from<br \/>\nthat, we have a team that usually works on a document, which comes out as a<br \/>\nbooklet, translated in three major languages in the Country namely English, <i>Chichewa<\/i> and <i>Tumbuka<\/i>. The booklet usually comes out in September and is used by<br \/>\nthe different apostolate groups throughout the whole Month of September,\u201d he<br \/>\nsaid.<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\nThe Episcopal Conference has created a work plan on monthly<br \/>\nbasis based on the theme of the year. This work plan is meant to help the<br \/>\nfaithful read the Bible throughout the year up to the month of August before<br \/>\nanother booklet comes out in September with a different theme.<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n\u201cDuring the Bible Month we also do programs on the radio stations to<br \/>\nencourage more people to participate while at the same time explaining what the<br \/>\nBible month is all about,\u201d Fr. Chimombo explained. <\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\nHe said that to crown this year\u2019s Bible Apostolate, the Episcopal Conference<br \/>\nhas released the Question and Answer Bible in order to enhance catechesis and<br \/>\nfaith formation for Christians. \u201cThe questions that trouble our faithful<br \/>\nespecially the youth are asked and responded to. In addition, there are Biblical<br \/>\nverses under every question where one can find reference for every question<br \/>\nasked as well as references from the Catechism of the Catholic Church,\u201d Fr.<br \/>\nChimombo explained adding that these references support the answers and help people<br \/>\nunderstand better.<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\nThe Question and Answer Bible was published by the United States<br \/>\nConference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) who gave ECM permission to reproduce the<br \/>\nNew Edition. <\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<i>By Pamela Adinda, AMECEA Online<br \/>\nNews<\/i><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rev.
