\nThe Small Christian Communities (SCC) of Ndola Diocese in
\nZambia is a big success despite of the challenge of having fewer men attending
\nin Ndola Diocese. <\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nSpeaking to AMECEA
\nOnline News<\/i> in Nairobi, Rt. Rev Alick Banda, Bishop of Ndola said that having
\nfewer men attending SCCs is a scenario which is also found in many other
\nDioceses and countries within AMECEA and thus should need a common pastoral approach
\nto tackle the problem. However, he said, there are other SCCs that are male
\ndominated, where men are the majority in his diocese.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nHe said that SCCs are very well established throughout
\nthe diocese of Ndola such that catechesis, pastoral meetings and preparations for
\nall kinds of celebrations are all done through the Small Christian Communities.\n<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n\u201cSmall
\nChristian Communities are now more of local churches while the parish is only a
\ncenter of celebrations. We live our lives in the Small Christian Communities
\nwhere our own challenges, difficulties and joys are shared,\u201d he explained.<\/div>\n

\nThe Bishop
\nadded that SCCs provide avenues for people come to know one another at very
\ncloser level and give solidarity to each other where necessary. \u201cIf someone is
\nfacing certain challenges, other members swiftly move in to assist and if one
\nis having a celebration then it is also that Small Christian Community you
\nbelong that comes in to celebrate with you,\u201d he said adding that \u201cFor us it has
\nreally become as a bonus because it translates our lives the way we are both in
\ndifficulties as well as happiness.\u201d <\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nFor young
\nadults who often feel that they are too old to participate in the SCCs for the
\nyouth or do not fit well in the SCCs dominated by elderly people; the Bishop
\nsaid that they have resolved the problem by creating SCCs for young adults taking
\ninto consideration age issue. \u201cBy so doing, these young adults are able to
\nintegrate well and share their experiences with one another,\u201d he said.<\/div>\n

\nNdola
\nDiocese which politically and geographically falls in the copper belt of Zambia
\nis geographically the smallest diocese in the country but the most populated
\nwith almost two million inhabitants out of which 860,000 are Catholics. The
\ndiocese has 89 parishes. <\/div>\n
