\nThe new
\nChancellor of the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA), Most Rev Berhaneyesus
\nD. Souraphiel, has commended the ingenuity and foresight of the Founders of
\nAMECEA that led to the establishment of the University in the region. <\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nArchbishop
\nBerhaneyesus was speaking during the thanksgiving Eucharistic celebration at
\nmain university Langata campus in Nairobi on Thursday 2nd 2014,
\nahead of the 30th graduation ceremony scheduled for Friday 3rd
\nOctober 2014. \u201cInvesting on education was the greatest gift the founders wanted
\nto share with the people of this region,\u201d he said.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nThe
\nArchbishop said he remembers how humbly CUEA started when it was inaugurated by
\nPope John Paul II, (now Saint John Paul II), \u201cThat humble beginning was the
\nbeginning of a larger family we are experiencing today,\u201d he said.<\/div>\n

\nThe
\nChancellor urged graduating students to nurture the virtue of humility. \u201cWhen
\nyou graduate remember to be humble because that virtue of humility will make
\nyou become a member of the kingdom of God,\u201d he said.<\/div>\n

\nArchbishop
\nBerhaneyesus asked the congregation to remember the countries of AMECEA, like South Sudan, which are experiencing difficulties. \u201cJust imagine the students in South
\nSudan, just imagine under what atmosphere studies are undertaken,?” he asked adding that \u201cWe
\nare have to be grateful to the Government of Kenya for guaranteeing security in
\nKenya to enable you pursue your studies in a serene environment.”<\/div>\n

He asked the
\ncongregation to remember and pray for those students who did not manage to
\nfinish their studies because of various reasons.<\/p><\/div>\n

\nAt the
\nbeginning of the celebration the new Chancellor was officially welcomed and
\nintroduced to the congregation by CUEA Council Chairman, Bishop Maurice Muhatia
\nMakumba, Bishop of Nakuru diocese in Kenya.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nA total of 1,954
\nstudents graduated on 3rd October 2014 an event which was graced by
\nKenya\u2019s Treasury Cabinet Secretary, Hon. Henry Rotich<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
