\nThe Apostolic Vicariate of Isiolo is officially set to launch its
\nVicariate radio station; Radio Shahidi operating on the frequency 97.1 fm on
\nthe 25th day of October in an event that will be graced by the Deputy President
\nHis Excellency William Ruto.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n

\nNews<\/i>, Fr. Okeke Ambrose, Cmf, the Vicariate\u2019s Communications Coordinator
\nsaid that Radio Shahidi, which is a Swahili word for Witness, covers a radius
\nof about 150 kilometers. \u201cThe same day 25th October is the Vicariates Family
\nDay celebration,\u201d he said.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nAccording to him, Radio Shahidi is for peace and capacity building
\nfor the multicultural people of Isiolo and its environs. These include Turkanas,
\nBoranas, Samburus, Rendiles, Merians and many others pastoral communities, torn
\nout by inter-ethnic and tribal clashes with cattle rustling.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nHe said that the radio project started with the late Bishop Luigi
\nLocati who died in 2005; however, the dream met its realization last year
\nthrough the desire of the present Bishop Anthony Ireri Mukobo IMC.<\/div>\n
