\nArchbishop of Dar-es-Salaam<\/i><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/p>\n \nHis Eminence Polycarp \nCardinal Pengo has warned Priests that there will be no Tolerance on issues of \nChild Sex Abuse in the Catholic Church.<\/div>\n \n<\/div>\n \nSpeaking in the island \nof Mafia during the pilgrimage of Holy Childhood of the Archdiocese of Dar es \nSalaam held in Mafia Parish, Cardinal Pengo, who is the archbishop of Dar es Salaam \nsaid that the Catholic Church was merciful to so many transgressions of priests \nbut on Child sex abuse, the church will be intolerant.<\/div>\n \n<\/div>\n \nHe said children, since \ntheir baptism, have received an indelible mark which is a symbol of witness to other \npeople.<\/div>\n \n<\/div>\n \nCardinal Pengo also \nreiterated that the issue of Child sex abuse is not limited to clergy and \nreligious alone. \u201cThere have been so many unreported cases of child sex abuse \ncommitted by parents or other family members; cases of defilement committed by \nparents or grandparents,\u201d he said adding that \u201cThese cases are concealed by society \nas if they are ordinary conducts.\u201d <\/div>\n \n<\/div>\n \nHe said that all these \ncases of Child sex abuse should be condemned and must be severely punished regardless \nof who commits the offense.<\/div>\n \n<\/div>\n \nHe asked the children to \nbuild the missionary spirit and support church activities through prayers and \ntheir contribution when needed.<\/div>\n \n<\/div>\n \nThe PMS children also \ncongratulated him for celebrating 70th birthday; 30 years of \nEpiscopate and prayed for his good health.<\/div>\n \n<\/div>\n \nCardinal Pengo said that \nhe was grateful to God for giving him another opportunity to meet them.<\/div>\n \n<\/div>\n \nA total of 336 children \nparticipated in the pilgrimage which started from October 2 to 6. 85 formators, 7 religious and 6 priests accompanied \nthe children in the pilgrimage. During \ntheir pilgrimage children also organized fundraising activities from their \nfellow children that aimed at collecting funds to build a shrine for pilgrimage \nfor children which will be the first one in Africa.<\/div>\n \n<\/div>\n \n SOURCE:
