\nMugambi, Chairman of Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) National
\nFamily Life Programme has emphasized the need to say no to the culture of death
\nof unborn babies, the elderly, the terminally ill and the physically and
\nmentally handicapped persons.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nSpeaking in Nairobi on
\n11th October when he flagged off the Conference\u2019s Annual Walk for
\nlife, a pro-life initiative, that aims at condemning abortion and other vices that
\nundermine the dignity of human person, Bishop Mugambi said that the dignity of
\nhuman person from conception to natural death must be upheld at all time.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n\u201cEven though they
\ntemporarily live in a different environment for a time and are tiny in size,
\nunborn babies are fully human beings who deserve dignity, respect and
\nprotection. The same applies to the elderly, the terminally ill as well as
\nthose physically and mentally challenged,\u201d he said.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nThe Bishop of Meru
\nDiocese also said that protection of God\u2019s creation is an obligation to all,
\n\u201cIt is the duty of every one of us to care for the environment but foremost to
\nprotect human life.\u201d<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nThe bishop expressed his
\nsadness at people who use medical cases as excuses to execute abortion. \u201cMedical
\nscience has never found abortion to cure any form of diseases. The mothers who
\nhave aborted the babies are usually left nursing physical and psychological
\ndisorders instead and in some cases they also die in the process.\u201d<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nBishop Mugambi also
\ncondemned human trafficking and child labour, which he said is a violation of
\nhuman rights and a practice that has become a reality in the country. \u201cPeople
\nare recruited and compelled to labour and commercial sex and exploitation. Every
\nyear many children are transported from rural areas to the cities as domestic
\nworkers, where they are expose to long working hours with very little or no
\npayment at all,\u201d he said.<\/div>\n
