\nThe Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops KCCB has
\ncalled on the government of Kenya to ensure equitable distribution of resources
\nto curb the rising cases of insecurity in the country. <\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nIn a press statement read to journalists, on 6th
\nNovember 2014 in Nakuru town, where they are meeting for their Ordinary Plenary
\nAssembly the Bishops stated that one major cause of rampant insecurity in parts
\nof this country is inequitable development. \u201cIt is regrettable, that despite 50
\nyears of independence, some parts of this country have not seen meaningful
\ndevelopment, with no roads, no schools and other essential social services,\u201d read
\nthe statement.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n\u201cWe reiterate that peace and development are
\ninseparable: there can be no peace without development; and no development
\nwithout peace. To ensure lasting security in the country, it is imperative that
\nthe Government ensures that National resources and services are equitably
\ndistributed,\u201d read the statement.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nThe call comes at the backdrop of the killing of 19 administrative police officers and three
\ncivilians during an attack on Saturday 1st November, at Karasani,
\nnorth of Kapedo along the Turkana-Baringo border.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nThe Bishops also urged the government to ensure that
\nall disputed boundaries in the country are
\nclearly demarcated to stem simmering tensions between counties over newly
\ndiscovered mineral resources.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nMeanwhile,<\/i><\/b>
\nthe Bishops also expressed their disappointment at the government concerning
\nthe tetanus Vaccine which they said were laced with Beta-HCG hormone, which is
\na form of contraceptive.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n\u201cOn March 26, 2014 and October 13, 2014, we met the
\nCabinet Secretary in-charge of health and the Director of Medical Services
\namong others and raised our concerns about the Vaccine and agreed to jointly
\ntest the vaccine. However the ministry did not cooperate and the joint tests
\nwere not done,\u201d the statement said.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n\u201cThe Catholic Church struggled and acquired several
\nvials of the vaccine, which we sent to four unrelated<\/i><\/b> Government
\nand private laboratories in Kenya and abroad. We want to announce here, that all<\/b>
\nthe tests showed that the vaccine used in Kenya in March and October 2014 was
\nindeed laced with the Beta- HCG hormone,\u201d the statement further said.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nExpressing their shocked at the level of dishonesty
\nand casual manner in which such a serious issue is being handled by the
\nGovernment, the Bishops said in the same statement that they shall not waver in
\ncalling upon all Kenyans to avoid the tetanus vaccination campaign laced with
\nBeta-HCG, because they are convinced that it is indeed a disguised population
\ncontrol programme.<\/div>\n

\nthe Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops.<\/div>\n

\nStand by
\nthe Truth (John 8: 32)<\/b><\/div>\n
\nPreamble,<\/b><\/div>\n
\nDear Christians, fellow Kenyans and all people of
\ngood will, we, the Catholic Bishops in Kenya, meeting at St. Mary\u2019s Pastoral Centre
\nin Nakuru, greet you in the name of Our Lord.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nDuring our weeklong Ordinary Plenary Assembly, we
\nhave taken stock and reflected deeply on the state of the nation and have
\nidentified the following issues of great concern:<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
    \n
  1. 1.
    \n Insecurity <\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
    \nAs we gathered to start our meeting, we received
    \nthe sad news of the killing of scores of security officers at Kapedo and other
    \nareas in the northern frontier. The horrific event is a sad reminder of the
    \nstate of the alarming level of insecurity in our country, and only the latest
    \nin a series of events across the country in which many Kenyans have lost their
    \nlives.<\/div>\n
    \n<\/div>\n
    \nWe share the pain of the families and friends who
    \nhave lost their dear ones. It is sad, that despite many promises that come
    \nafter such catastrophes, nothing gets done and the same tragic cycle is
    \nrepeated soon thereafter.<\/div>\n
    \n<\/div>\n
    \nFor example, the Government promised stern action
    \nafter Kenyans lost their lives in Lamu County. To date, only two people have
    \nbeen taken to court.<\/div>\n
    \n<\/div>\n
    \nHow many more Kenyans, including security officers,
    \nmust lose their lives before real order is restored? We now want to state
    \ncategorically, that time has come for less talk and more action.<\/div>\n
    \n<\/div>\n
    \nOne major cause of rampant insecurity in parts of
    \nthis country is inequitable development. It is regrettable, that despite 50
    \nyears of independence, some parts of this country have not seen meaningful
    \ndevelopment, with no roads, no schools and other essential social services.<\/div>\n
    \n<\/div>\n
    \nWe reiterate that peace and development are

    \nTo ensure lasting security in the country, it is

    \nAt the same time, the Government must ensure that
    \nall disputed boundaries in the country are clearly demarcated to stem simmering
    \ntensions between counties over newly discovered mineral resources.<\/div>\n
    \n<\/div>\n
    \nWe are deeply concerned about clear lapses in our Government\u2019s
    \nsecurity response mechanisms. News that the slain officers at Kapedo appealed
    \nfor backup and no response was forthcoming for more than 30 hours, is a clear
    \nindication that there are dangerous gaps in our security apparatus, and that
    \nthere is an urgent need for overhaul.<\/div>\n
    \n<\/div>\n
    \nThis is not the first time that we are raising this
    \nissue with the Government.<\/div>\n
    \n<\/div>\n
      \n
    1. 2. The
      \n Tetanus Vaccine<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
      \nDear Kenyans, due to the direction the debate on
      \nthe ongoing Tetanus Vaccine campaign in Kenya is taking, We, the Catholic
      \nBishops, in fulfilling our prophetic role, wish to restate our position as
      \nfollows:<\/div>\n
      \n<\/div>\n
        \n
      1. The
        \n Catholic Church is NOT<\/b> opposed to regular vaccines administered in
        \n Kenya, both in our own Church health facilities and in public health
        \n institutions.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
        \n<\/div>\n
          \n
        1. However<\/b>,
          \n during the second phase of the Tetanus vaccination campaign in March 2014,
          \n that is sponsored by WHO\/UNICEF, the Catholic Church questioned the
          \n secrecy of the exercise. We raised questions on whether the tetanus
          \n vaccine was linked to a population control program that has been reported
          \n in some countries, where a similar vaccine was laced with Beta- HCG
          \n hormone which causes infertility and multiple miscarriages in women.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
          \n<\/div>\n
            \n
          1. On
            \n March 26, 2014 and October 13, 2014, we met the Cabinet Secretary
            \n in-charge of health and the Director of Medical Services among others and raised
            \n our concerns about the Vaccine and agreed to jointly test the vaccine.
            \n However the ministry did not cooperate and the joint tests were not done<\/li>\n

            \n we sent to four unrelated<\/i><\/b> Government and private
            \n laboratories in Kenya and abroad.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            1. We
              \n want to announce here, that all<\/b> the tests showed that the vaccine
              \n used in Kenya in March and October 2014 was indeed laced with the Beta-
              \n HCG hormone.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
              \n<\/div>\n
                \n
              1. On
                \n 13th of October 2014, the Catholic Church gave copies of the results to
                \n the cabinet secretary and the Director of Medical Services. The same was
                \n emailed to the Director of Medical Services on October 17, 2014.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
                \n<\/div>\n
                \nBased on the above grounds, we, the Catholic
                \nBishops in Kenya, wish to State the following:<\/b><\/div>\n
                \n<\/div>\n
                  \n
                1. That
                  \n <\/b>we
                  \n are shocked at the level of dishonesty and casual manner in which such a
                  \n serious issue is being handled by the Government.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
                  \n<\/div>\n
                    \n
                  1. That<\/b> a
                    \n report presented to the Parliamentary Committee on Health November 4, 2014
                    \n by the Ministry of Health, claiming that the Government had tested the
                    \n Vaccine and found it clean of Beta- HCG hormone, is false<\/b> and a
                    \n deliberate attempt to distort the truth and mislead 42 million Kenyans.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
                    \n<\/div>\n
                      \n
                    1. That<\/b> we
                      \n are dismayed by attempts to intimidate and blackmail medical professionals
                      \n who have corroborated information about the vaccine, with threats of
                      \n disciplinary action. We commend and support all professionals who have
                      \n stood by the truth.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
                      \n<\/div>\n
                        \n
                      1. That<\/b> we
                        \n shall not waver in calling upon all Kenyans to avoid the tetanus
                        \n vaccination campaign laced with Beta-HCG, because we are convinced that it
                        \n is indeed a disguised population control programme.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
                        \n<\/div>\n
                          \n
                        1. 3.
                          \n Corruption and National Values<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
                          \nDear Kenyans, we mourn the persistence of chronic
                          \ncorruption in all sectors of society-from the national police recruitment
                          \nexercise that was nullified due to corruption concerns, national examinations
                          \nwhose integrity has been lost, land grabbing, missing land and court files, and
                          \ndisturbing reports of misappropriation of public resources.<\/div>\n
                          \n<\/div>\n
                          \nWe shall not get tired of reminding the Government
                          \nand all Kenyans, that corruption is a cancer that is swiftly eating into every
                          \npart of our society; one that is robbing our children of their legacy. Unless
                          \nthere is a united front against this vice, we will lose our Nation to forces of
                          \nevil.<\/div>\n
                          \n<\/div>\n
                            \n
                          1. 4.
                            \n Conclusion<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
                            \nDear Kenyans, and people of good will, We, the
                            \nCatholic Bishops in Kenya, urge you to remain prayerful and vigilant. We want
                            \nto assure you, that we shall not tire of reminding the Government of its
                            \nconstitutional mandate to you, dear Kenyans, to protect lives and provide basic
                            \nservices-that is our pledge to you.<\/div>\n

                            \nMay the Lord guide you and keep you safe now and
                            \nforever more.<\/div>\n
