\nThe tarmacking of the main road
\nlinking Kenya with Ethiopia is expected to be completed by the end of next
\nyear, according to the Governor of Kenya’s Marsabit County. Governor Ukur
\nYattani said the 505-kilometre Isiolo-Marsabit-Moyale road was now 60% complete
\nand that work was continuing well.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nHe said “Construction is
\nongoing, and by the end of next year, we will have connected Addis Ababa to
\nNairobi by a tarmac road. This, he added, will change the economy of this area.
\nThe road is expected to have cost over US$500 million when finished and is
\nbeing funded by the African Development Bank, the European Union and the Kenya
\nGovernment. <\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nThe Governor said the road would
\nease travel to Nairobi and will also mean the establishment of petrol stations,
\ntourist lodges, banks and other institutions. The road, said Governor Yattani,
\nwill be “a game changer.”<\/div>\n
