\nThe Catholic Bishops of Sudan and South Sudan have recommended the Ongoing Formation Program for Priests that aim at enhancing evangelization in their countries, during their annual plenary assembly,
\nwhich was held in Juba from 5th – 14th November, 2014.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nSpeaking to
\nAMECEA Online<\/em> News<\/em> from Juba, Secretary General to the Bishops Conference, Fr Jacob Odwa Paul said that the ongoing formation for priest was one of the major
\nagenda during the plenary. <\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n\u201cThe Bishops
\nresolved that the ongoing formation program for priest after
\nordination is mandatory in order to equip them with various skills and knowledge
\nto handle various challenges that many priests face in their apostolate as
\nagents of evangelization,\u201d Fr Odwa explained.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nThe Bishops
\nhave asked the dioceses to consolidate resources in order to
\nfacilitate the program. \u201cPriests need to be oriented, well informed, intelligent and capable of
\nhandling various situations that may arise while performing their duties. This can
\nonly be achieved when they upgrade their capacity from time to time,” he said adding that “The
\nconference is open to work with collaborators and people of good will to ensure
\nthat this is happening.” <\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nAnother important agenda that was discussed during the plenary meeting was the naming of the Conference to accommodate the two countries. <\/div>\n
\n <\/div>\n
\n\u201cThe process of changing the name of the conference is
\nusually done in a very systematic way; first the Bishops have to deliberate on
\nthe matter and work on the amendments of the statutes to be able to accommodate
\nthe new name,\u201d Fr Odwa explained adding that “The committee for the amendments of
\nthe statutes was formed and it is headed by Rt. Rev.
\nMichael Didi,  Bishop of El Obeid, in Sudan. <\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nFr Odwa said that the Bishops managed to come up with a new name which
\nis in the process of being sent to Rome for approval before it is adopted by
\nthe conference.<\/div>\n
