Hundreds of people from Kondoa diocese and outside
\ngathered in Kondoa Parish premises to pray and witness the dedication of the
\nHoly Spirit Cathedral, a ceremony that took place on 4 December 2014.<\/p><\/div>\n

\nSpeaking during Holy Mass H.E Polycarp Cardinal Pengo,
\nthe Achbishop of Dar es salaam who was the main celebrant, congratulated the faithful
\nof Kondoa for building such a magnificent Cathedral.<\/div>\n
\n <\/div>\n
\nCardinal Pengo said that before the dedication of the Cathedral,
\nthe building could be changed for another use other than being a place for
\nworship, but after the dedication the building is set specifically for this purpose-
\nto be the House of God \u2013House of Prayer. \u201cContrary to that is committing sacrilege,\u201d
\nhe said.<\/div>\n

\n<\/a><\/div>\n
\n

Cardinal Pengo asked the faithful of Kondoa to equate the
\nbeauty of the Cathedral with their call to sanctity. \u201cYou are called to be salt
\nand light of the society here in Kondoa; like the early Christians you should
\nbecome the catalyst and bring holiness to your community, and be a model to the
\npeople around you,\u201d he said adding that “Just as the
\nearly Christian who met at graveyards to pray, the places which were considered
\nas unclean; these Christians sanctified those places\/environment
\nwhich others felt that they
\nwere unclean.”<\/p><\/div>\n

Also speaking at the event, Most Rev Jude
\nThadeus Ruwai\u2019chi of the Archdiocese of Mwanza,
\non behalf of the President of Tanzania
\nEpiscopal Conference (TEC) Rt Rev Tarcisio Ngalalekumtwa, congratulated the faithful of the Kondoa to committing
\nthemselves to that noble work of the construction of the
\nHoly spirit Cathedral. \u201cMay I ask you to keep it as the \u2018House of God\u2019 and a
\nplace of prayer,\u201d he said.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Speaking on behalf of the government, the Vice President
\nof the United Republic of Tanzania Dr. Mohamed
\nGharib Bilal, hailed
\nthe Diocese Kondoa for the good
\nwork and provision of better services to the people of Tanzania. \u201cThe Catholic Church has been
\nat the forefront in providing quality
\nservices in the
\nhealth sector, education, water and general social development
\nof the people,\u201d he said.<\/p><\/div>\n

Dr Bilal strongly warned all those who want to breach peace in the country. \u201cIn
\nthe recent days there has been \u2018red lights\u2019 propelled by some people in the country,\u201d
\nhe said adding that \u201c I want to assure you that  the government will never allow any person or
\npersons, for whatever reason, to violate the peaceful co-existence  that has been there for years in the country.\u201d<\/p><\/div>\n

In his concluding remarks, the Bishop of Kondoa, Rt Rev
\nBernadini Mfumbusa commended the sacrifice of the faithful of Kondoa, (both from within and outside the diocese) that enabled
\nthem to complete the construction of their Cathedral. Bishop Mfumbusa also
\nextended his gratitude to partners, both international and local, who supported
\nthe initiatives of the faithful of Kondoa. <\/p><\/div>\n
