In it we recognize the \u201cunceasing work of the Holy Spirit,<br \/>\nwho in every age shows forth the richness of the practice of the evangelical<br \/>\ncounsels through a multiplicity of charisms. In this way too he makes ever<br \/>\npresent in the Church and in the world, in time and space, the mystery of<br \/>\nChrist\u201d (VC 5). <\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nIn the lines<br \/>\nthat outline the form of the dove one can intuit the word \u2018Peace\u2019 in Arabic:<br \/>\nthis is a reminder that consecrated life is called to be the model for<br \/>\nuniversal reconciliation in Christ.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<b style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;\">The<\/b> <b style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;\">dove:<\/b> is the classical symbol of the action of the Holy Spirit, who<br \/>\nis the source of life and the inspirer of creativity. This is a flash-back to<br \/>\nthe origin of history: in the beginning the Spirit of God moved on the waters<br \/>\n(cf Gen 1,2). The dove, gliding above a sea swollen with yet unexpressed life,<br \/>\nsymbolizes a patient and hope-filled fecundity, while the symbols around it<br \/>\nreveal the creative and renewing action of the Spirit. The dove also evokes the<br \/>\nconsecration of the humanity of Christ through baptism.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<b style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;\">The waters<\/b>: are made of mosaic fragments;<br \/>\nthey indicate the complexity and the harmony of the human and cosmic elements<br \/>\nthat are made to \u201cgroan\u201d by the Spirit according to God\u2019s mysterious plans (cf<br \/>\nRom 8, 26-27) so that they may converge into the hospitable and fruitful<br \/>\nencounter that leads to a new creation. The dove flies among the waves of<br \/>\nhistory, above the waters of the deluge (cf Gen 8, 8-14). The men and women,<br \/>\nwhose consecration was marked by the Gospel, have always been pilgrims among<br \/>\nthe nations; they live their various charismatic and diaconal presence like<br \/>\n\u201cgood administrators of the multiform grace of God\u201d (1Pt 4,10); they are marked<br \/>\nby the Cross of Christ, even unto martyrdom; they journey through history<br \/>\nequipped with the wisdom of the Gospel; indeed, a Church that embraces and<br \/>\nheals all that is human in Christ.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<b style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;\">The three stars<\/b>: These stand for the identity of<br \/>\nconsecrated life as confessio Trinitatis, signum fraternitatis e servitium<br \/>\ncaritatis. They express the circular relationships found in the Trinitarian<br \/>\nlove, which consecrated life is called to live daily in the world. The stars<br \/>\nalso hint to the triple halo used in the Byzantine iconography to honor Mary,<br \/>\nthe Mother of God, the first Disciple of Christ and model and patron of every<br \/>\nconsecrated life.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<b style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;\">The polyhedral globe:<\/b> The small polyhedral globe<br \/>\nsymbolizes the planet with its myriad variety of nations and cultures, as<br \/>\nexplained by Pope Francis (cf EG 236). It is the breath of the Spirit that<br \/>\nsustains it and leads it towards the future: an invitation to all consecrated<br \/>\npersons \u201cto become bearers of the Spirit (pneumatophoroi), authentically<br \/>\nspiritual men and women, capable of endowing history with hidden fruitfulness\u201d<br \/>\n(VC 6).<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<b style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;\">The Headword <\/b><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">Vita consecrata in Ecclesia<br \/>\nhodie&nbsp; Evangelium, Prophetia, Spes<\/i><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">(Consecrated life in today\u2019s<br \/>\nChurch&nbsp; Gospel, Prophecy, Hope.)<\/i><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\"><\/i>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\"><\/i>The headword<br \/>\nprovides a further highlighting of the identity and prospective, experience and<br \/>\nideals, grace and journey that consecrated life has lived through and is still<br \/>\nliving within the Church as people of God, as it journeys together with the<br \/>\ndifferent nations and cultures toward the future.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\">\n&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<b style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;\">Evangelium:<\/b> this indicates the fundamental<br \/>\nrule of consecrated life, which is the \u201csequela Christi as taught by the<br \/>\nGospel\u201d (PC 2a). First of all as \u201ca living memorial of Jesus&#8217; way of living and<br \/>\nacting\u201d (VC 22), and then as vital wisdom in the light of the multiple counsels<br \/>\nthat the Lord gave to his disciples (cf LG 42). The Gospel shows the way ahead<br \/>\nand is a source of joy (EG 1).&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\">\n&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<b style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;\">Prophetia:<\/b> reminds us of the prophetic<br \/>\ncharacter of consecrated life, which \u201ctakes the shape of a special form of<br \/>\nsharing in Christ&#8217;s prophetic office, which the Holy Spirit communicates to the<br \/>\nwhole People of God\u201d (VC 84). This is an authentic prophetic ministry that is<br \/>\nborn from the Word and is nourished by the Word of God when this is welcomed<br \/>\nand lived out in the various circumstances of life. This function is carried<br \/>\nout through courageous denunciation and in announcing new \u2018visits\u2019 by God;<br \/>\nalso, \u201cthrough the exploration of new ways to apply the Gospel in history, in<br \/>\nexpectation of the coming of God&#8217;s Kingdom\u201d.<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\">\n&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<b style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;\">Spes:<\/b> reminds us of the ultimate<br \/>\nfulfillment of the Christian mystery. We are living through an era that is<br \/>\ncharacterized by widespread uncertainties and a lack of projects with a<br \/>\nlong-term vision: hope is needed in a context of cultural and social fragility,<br \/>\nat a time when the horizon is dark because \u201cit often seems that the signs of<br \/>\nGod&#8217;s presence have been lost from sight\u201d (VC 85). Consecrated life is<br \/>\npermanently projected toward the eschatology: it witnesses that every hope will<br \/>\neventually have its definite fulfillment, and transforms the waiting \u201cin work<br \/>\nand mission, that the Kingdom may become present here and now\u201d (VC 27).
