\nKachebere Major Seminary in
\nMalawi, on Saturday, 10th
\nJanuary, 2015 will officiate the inauguration of the Jubilee Year, by the celebration of the Eucharist
\nthat will be led by Rt Rev Martin Mtumbuka, Bishop of Karonga Diocese who is
\nalso Bishop Chairman for Seminaries. <\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n

Seminary buildings<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
\nThe Seminary, also known as \u2018St.
\nAnthony Major Seminary\u2019; a philosophical college under the Episcopal Conference
\nof Malawi, opened its doors on 10th October 1939 and has thus,
\nclocked 75 years of its existence. <\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nInformation received from the
\nCatholic Secretariat of the Episcopal Conference of Malawi (ECM) stated that the
\nJubilee year commences on 10th January 2015 and will run until 10th
\nOctober 2015.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nAccording to Chairperson for the
\nJubilee Committee Fr George Nyanga several activities are expected to be
\ncarried out within this Jubilee year. \u201cThese include: pilgrimage to the
\nseminary; workshops and seminars on the Catholic Church teachings, fundraising
\nevents, Eucharist celebrations and kick start of development projects that will
\naid the seminary in income generating activities for self-sustainability,\u201d he
\nsaid.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n\u201cWe expect all those people who
\nhave gone through this seminary to take part in the planned activities,\u201d he
\nsaid adding that \u201cSimilarly, as we aware that our Christians in one way or
\nanother have been beneficiaries of the seminary; we do expect them to be part
\nof the activities of this jubilee year.\u201d <\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nThe Jubilee committee through its
\nfundraising programme already held a fundraising braai in November, 2014 and
\nwill be having first Fundraising Dinner and Dance on 31st January,
\n2015 at Bingu International Conference Centre.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nThe seminary which serves as a
\nregional seminary it once received seminarian from the Northern part of Zambia
\nby then known as Northern Rhodesia. <\/div>\n
