Members of staff for the Episcopal
\nConference of Malawi (ECM) Catholic Secretariat have started the year 2015 with
\nan orientation workshop termed \u201cTeam Building workshop\u201d held in the Lakeshore
\ndistrict of Salima from 8-9th January this year.<\/p><\/div>\n

\nThe workshop brought together all
\nthe 48 staff members from all the Commissions under ECM which includes,
\nCatholic Commission for Justice and Peace (CCJP),Catholic Development Commission
\nin Malawi (CADECOM), Education, Pastoral, Health and Communications.<\/div>\n
\n <\/div>\n
\nAccording to the Acting Secretary
\nGeneral for ECM, Rev Fr. Emmanuel Chimombo, the workshop aimed at bringing
\ntogether ECM staff members so as to unite and work as a team in this year\u2019s
\nactivities; embrace professionalism, efficiency and effectiveness for the staff
\nas they carry out their duties.<\/div>\n
\n <\/div>\n
\n\u201cBy coming here together, it
\nsymbolizes that we are a family. We therefore have to reflect well that
\nwhatever we do is in line with the Vision and Mission of ECM. Let us realize
\nthat we are all at Catholic Secretariat to evangelize through our Commissions,\u201d
\nhe said adding that \u201cLet\u2019s strive to carry out our duties in an efficient, effective
\nand no discrimination.\u201d<\/div>\n
\n <\/div>\n
\nOne of the facilitators to the
\nworkshop, Fr. Andrew Kaufa who is also the Communications Secretary at ECM highlighted
\non the need for Catholic Secretariat\u2019s staff to make sure that they attach
\ntheir day to day activities in line with the Catholic Social Teachings; while Chris
\nChisoni of Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace (CCJP) said the role of
\nCatholic Secretariat\u2019s staff is to represent the Church by engaging people
\nthrough its structures which are Commissions, departments, conferences,
\nprograms, statements and letters.<\/div>\n
\n <\/div>\n
\nOther topics that were looked
\ninto during the workshop included policies on Vehicles, medical, HIV work, employment,
\nprocurement and Child Protection policies. The workshop also deliberated on the
\nFinancial Management System, procedures and administrative procedures and
\nCommunications mechanisms. <\/div>\n
