Fr. Chrisantus<br \/>\nNdaga who addressed the participants at the beginning of the four-day workshop<br \/>\non Tuesday 5th April emphasized on the need for the Church\u2019s<br \/>\npresence online by embracing the new media technology.<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n\u201cThis training will greatly facilitate information sharing to<br \/>\nreach as many people especially young people who are always in social media<br \/>\nnetworks,\u201d said Fr. Ndaga.<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-2v8FukMstzw\/VwfbGnlBUXI\/AAAAAAAAFtI\/BVsNxxV0_1IMxARs6BaTP7_LRuuGs5dpQ\/s1600\/DSC05417.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" height=\"239\" src=\"http:\/\/communications.amecea.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/DSC05417.jpg\" width=\"320\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\nHe explained that AMECEA decided to conduct the training on<br \/>\ninformation technology and communication (ICT) for communication experts to<br \/>\nhelp broaden their spectra and build their capacity so that they can inform,<br \/>\neducate and evangelize communities. He added that there are many things the Church<br \/>\nis doing which are very important to the society but they are known by the<br \/>\nsociety. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThrough such trainings, you will help to reduce the cost of buying or<br \/>\npaying others to prepare your websites and blogs because you will be in<br \/>\npositions to perform such tasks by yourselves,\u201d he explained.<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<b><i>Meanwhile<\/i><\/b>, the first AMECEA Secretary of Social Communications Department Rev.<br \/>\nFr. Joseph Healey, MM, who was present at the beginning of the training appealed<br \/>\nto the participants to ensure that all communication offices in the conferences<br \/>\nmake ICT a priority.<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n\u201cIt is important that you implement in your respective conferences<br \/>\nwhat you are going to learn during this workshop so that the work of<br \/>\nevangelization can be more promoted,\u201d said Fr. Healey whose sentiments were<br \/>\nechoed by the Training facilitator Mr. Peter Kyalo from University of Nairobi<br \/>\nwho told the participants that ICT is about putting into practice what one has<br \/>\nlearnt, failure of which leads to forgetfulness of the concepts.<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\nSpeaking after the training, the participants were grateful for&nbsp;the initiative AMECEA is taking as they wished that the same knowledge could trickle down to conference level where many dioceses could benefit from it.
