It was a<br \/>\nprovidential opportunity, since many journalists and TVs were gathered for the<br \/>\noccasion and our presentation was live broadcasted by KTN television.<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\nThe presentation underlined the genesis of Civic Education project<br \/>\nand its development in this way: <i>\u201cPaulines Publications Africa,<\/i> participating<br \/>\non the evangelizing mission of the Church, through the use of mass media and<br \/>\ndigital communication, came up with a 2012 Global Continental Apostolic Project<br \/>\nthat gave top priority to Civic Education. Gathered here in Nairobi, we took as<br \/>\ncommitment to create synergy among ourselves (FSP) as to address the needs of<br \/>\ntoday\u2019s Africa, that is, to form an African Christian Culture. In fact <i>Africae<br \/>\nMunus<\/i> is the springboard of this project and has helped us \u201cto speak of<br \/>\neverything in a Christian way\u201d as Blessed James Alberione our Founder often<br \/>\nurged us.<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/-kzqtsOKsFRY\/VxD-xBYNl4I\/AAAAAAAAFwM\/edtQeDmCnAQ3u7E6Vd4Yvahpazf9zztIACLcB\/s1600\/DSC01091.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" height=\"240\" src=\"http:\/\/communications.amecea.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/DSC01091.jpg\" width=\"320\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>The preparatory stage involved brainstorming and elaboration of<br \/>\ncontent with the help of Bishop Harrington and experts, of AMECEA Pastoral<br \/>\nDepartment, KCCB Justice and Peace Commission, KCCB Education Commission, some<br \/>\nprofessors of Social Ministry Tangaza College and Strathmore University to<br \/>\nensure a production of African Christian thought that also is a voice of<br \/>\norientation for our people and platform of sharing with the World at large. For<br \/>\nthe realization of it, we counted on the pastoral collaboration of Bishop<br \/>\nMaurice Makumba and Archbishop Martin Kivuva.\u201d <\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\nThe 12 Civic Education Booklets offer at the end of each chapter<br \/>\nthe Social Teaching of the Church. The 4 DVDs are audiovisual aids in the form<br \/>\nof short stories that complement the books in offering a basic knowledge on the<br \/>\nrights and responsibilities of each citizen in promoting the common good. The<br \/>\nprimary responsibility for building democracy and changing society rests with<br \/>\nthe people: ordinary people actively involved in social change. Each DVD has 3 topics<br \/>\nand all DVDs were produced by our sisters and staff who participated in <i>Luci nel Mondo<\/i> formation program on<br \/>\nvideo production.<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\nWe published also the Handbook of Civic Education, a resource<br \/>\nbook, providing information about public policy, politics, economics, culture,<br \/>\nthe environment and related fields thereby encouraging the reader to work for a<br \/>\nmore equal, democratic and inclusive society. <\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\nHis Lordship Bishop Maurice Makumba introducing the Handbook of<br \/>\nCivic Education says: \u201cThe search for equal dignity, social justice and just<br \/>\npolitical systems, through responsible \u201cservant\u201d leadership and integrity, can<br \/>\nbe like chasing a mirage if the populace is unaware of its basic rights and<br \/>\nduties\u2026 There is a need to redirect the minds and hearts of individuals towards<br \/>\nthe common good because knowledge of a good person stimulates one to good<br \/>\naction. This is why we need civic education value-based and it has the dignity<br \/>\nof the human person at the heart.\u201d<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\nThis material is for all involved in civic education: teachers,<br \/>\ngrassroots workers, group and community leaders, Small Christian Communities,<br \/>\npastoral agents in evangelization and all who are interested in working for<br \/>\njustice, peace and reconciliation.<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\nAt the end, there was a presentation of the books and DVDs to<br \/>\nBishop Philip Anyolo, chairman of KCCB. In his turn, he thanked the Daughters<br \/>\nof St Paul for such and timely initiative for Kenya and for Africa.
