\nThe Catholic Women Organization (CWO) will from 29th August
\nto 5th September this year host the World Union of Catholic Women Organization
\n(WUCWO) where delegates from 22 African countries will participate. This was
\nconfirmed by CWO National Chairlady Ms. Bernadette Chiwaya.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nAccording to Chiwaya, the conference which will officially be
\nopened by Eucharistic Celebrations at Civo Stadium on Wednesday 31st
\nAugust will be hosted under the theme “Women
\nof Africa Proclaimers of God’s Mercy” Come and see a man who told me
\neverything I did could this be the Messiah taken from the book of John 4:29<\/i>.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n\u201cThere are other equally important topics to be discussed during
\nthe conference among them include; hope in action in the service of the family,
\nyouth and the suffering in Africa; the phenomenon of street women and children as
\nwell as human trafficking in Africa and WUCWO women of Africa in the light of
\nEvangelical Gaulderma of Pope Francis,\u201d said Chiwaya adding that the closing
\nMass will be at the venue of the conference- Bingu International Conference
\nCentre (BICC) in Lilongwe on Sunday, September 5.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nShe said the conference is also aimed at promoting the presence,
\nparticipation and co-responsibility of Catholic women in society and Church, in
\norder to enable them to fulfill their mission of evangelization and work for
\nhuman development.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nApart from that, Chiwaya said the conference will also look at an
\nAfrican woman as agent of change and development, dialogue, peace and justice:
\na key to a stable and prosperous Africa; access to safe drinking water and
\nsanitation is a human right: look at the situation in Africa; Climate Change;
\nand youth and their contribution to and or benefit from evangelical work,
\npeace, justice and equitable sustainable development.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n\u201cThere are lots of benefits from this conference and this ranges
\nfrom an international exposure, learning from other international organizations
\nhence share experience and at the same time many Malawian women will have an
\nopportunity to learn more about World Union of Catholic Women Organisation,\u201d
\nsaid Chiwaya.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nMeanwhile,<\/i> Chairperson for the Publicity
\nCommittee for the conference, Prudence Kadiwa said resource mobilization and
\nfundraising activities have been lined up so as to host a successful
\nconference.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n\u201cFor instance, every Catholic woman will contribute money through
\nSmall Christian Communities. The laity themselves in all the parishes will also
\ncontribute. Apart from that, we have arranged several fundraising activities
\nlike dinner and dance and sale of a cloth,\u201d said Kadiwa.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nShe called on people of good will to financially and materially
\ncontribute towards the success of the conference.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nWUCWO has member organizations from five regions namely, Africa,
\nAsia- Pacific, Europe, Latin America\/ Caribbean and North America.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nLast WUCWO conference was held in Fatima Portugal in 2014 whereas
\nthe last WUCWO Africa region conference was held in Nigeria in February 2013.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nThe conference is expected to host 200 international delegates and
\n250 local delegates.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
