Conference of Sudan and South Sudan (CBCSS), has expressed that thousands of families have been forced from their homes because of the ongoing violence and insecurity, especially in the Northern Jonglei and Western Equatoria States.

The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio described the humanitarian situation as critical, noting that in Northern Jonglei, families displaced from Duk, Waat, Yuai, and Pajuat are facing severe shortages of food, clean water, shelter, and access to basic health services.

He added, “Vulnerable groups, including women, children, the elderly, and persons with disabilities, are particularly at risk.”

He further points out the persistent insecurity in Western Equatoria State, especially in Tambura County, where the internally displaced persons (IDPs) are experiencing acute shortages of basic needs, essential health, and protection services.

While the Catholic Church, through diocesan structures and humanitarian partners, is providing accompaniment and limited emergency support, Bishop Hiiboro, on behalf of the bishops, emphasized that the scale of the crisis far exceeds the resources currently available.

He warns, “Without urgent intervention, the situation will further deteriorate, exposing already traumatized communities to deeper suffering.”

The bishops, therefore, call on humanitarian organizations, donor agencies, and people of goodwill to provide life-saving assistance, especially in emergency food assistance, water and sanitation services, emergency shelter and non-food items, health and nutrition care, and protection and psychosocial support.

“Timely solidarity will help restore hope, dignity, and protection to families who have lost their homes and livelihoods,” The Bishop highlighted.

Sr. Jecinter Antoinette Okoth, FSSA Following the renewed fighting in South Sudan, between the South…

[9,18

post-23934","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-amecea-news","category-sudansouth-sudan
["GET
