On January 24, 2026, a gathering of faith and fellowship took place at the Bible Society of Ethiopia as Christians from various traditions converged for the annual Christian Unity Prayer service.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s gathering was guided by the profound scriptural mandate from\u00a0Ephesians 4:4:\u00a0\u201cThere is one body and one spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The event saw a significant turnout from the Ethiopian Church’s diverse community. In a spirit of fraternal love, the service brought together Church Fathers and Bishops representing the ancient Apostolic traditions. Priests and Pastors from various Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant denominations. Consecrated Religious and Laity, including a notable presence of international clergy and visitors.<\/p>\n

The atmosphere was solemn and shared purpose, highlighting the common bond of baptism that unites all followers of Christ. At its core, the movement for Christian unity is not merely a diplomatic endeavour but a spiritual pilgrimage. It stems directly from the Heart of Christ, who prayed on the eve of His Passion:\u00a0\u201cthat they all may be one\u201d<\/em>\u00a0(John 17:21).<\/p>\n

During the service, the prevailing message was one of reconciliation and active peace-making. Leaders urged the faithful to move beyond doctrinal differences to address the community’s pressing needs.<\/p>\n

“Every Christian denomination is called to be a sower of peace,” noted the speakers, emphasizing that unity is not just a theological concept but a lived reality that must manifest in the pursuit of harmony within Ethiopia and across the globe.<\/p>\n

The Church today is being called by the Holy Spirit to heal historical wounds through conversion of heart, recognizing that unity begins with personal humility. Sincere dialogue: moving past misconceptions to find common ground in Truth. Mutual Respect: honouring the diverse liturgical and spiritual traditions that enrich the Christian faith.<\/p>\n

The call for unity extends beyond the sanctuary. In a world desperate for reconciliation, Christian collaboration serves as a “credible witness” to the Gospel. By standing together, the various Christian traditions aim to serve the Poor: Providing a unified front in humanitarian efforts. Promote Peace: Acting as mediators in regions torn by conflict. Proclaim the Word: Showing that the power of God\u2019s love is stronger than any sectarian divide.<\/p>\n

The gathering concluded with a collective prayer for the nation, asking for the guidance of the Holy Spirit to strengthen the “One Body” of Christ in its mission of love and service.<\/p>\n
