{"id":23769,"date":"2026-01-09T13:55:49","date_gmt":"2026-01-09T10:55:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/communications.amecea.org\/?p=23769"},"modified":"2026-01-09T14:02:01","modified_gmt":"2026-01-09T11:02:01","slug":"uganda-14-sisters-profess-perpetual-vows-as-four-mark-golden-jubilee-in-lira-uganda","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/communications.amecea.org\/index.php\/2026\/01\/09\/uganda-14-sisters-profess-perpetual-vows-as-four-mark-golden-jubilee-in-lira-uganda\/","title":{"rendered":"UGANDA: 14 Sisters Profess Perpetual Vows as Four Mark Golden Jubilee in Lira, Uganda"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Fr Isaac Ojok<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Institute of the Missionary Sisters of Mary Mother of the Church (MSMMC) celebrated a historic moment on 1<sup>st<\/sup> January 2026 at Ngetta in Lira diocese, during the Religious profession of 18 candidates.<\/p>\n<p>Out of the 18 Sisters, 14 made their perpetual vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience, committing themselves fully to the consecrated religious life. Meanwhile, four Sisters marked their Golden Jubilee, celebrating 50 years of faithful service to God and His people.<\/p>\n<p>In his homily, Bishop Wanok expressed deep gratitude to God for the many blessings bestowed upon His people through the Institute of the Missionary Sisters of Mary Mother of the Church.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have come to witness the outpouring of God\u2019s blessings upon His people through this Institute, and today we share in the grace that God continues to pour out,\u201d the bishop said.<\/p>\n<p>Reflecting on the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, the Bishop highlighted Mary as a model of listening, determination, faith, and action. He encouraged the sisters to imitate Mary, who \u201ctreasured and pondered everything in her heart,\u201d and whose motherhood continues to guide the Church.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking about the Golden Jubilee Sisters, Bishop Wanok noted that living 50 years in consecrated life is not easy and requires perseverance, faithfulness, and love.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cReligious life is a community journey that cannot be walked alone. Through shared fidelity, one is able to overcome the difficulties of life,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing the Sisters making perpetual vows, the bishop prayed that the communion of the Spirit would be visible in their lives. He reminded them that from that day onward, their lives belonged totally to Christ for the service of the Church.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-23757\" src=\"https:\/\/communications.amecea.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Bishops-during-Eucharistic-celebration-at-Mother-House-in-Ngetta.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cBuild your congregation together. Let your vows shape you according to the motherhood of Mary,\u201d he urged.<\/p>\n<p>On the occasion which also marks the World Day of Peace, the Bishop reflected on the importance of peace within families, communities, and the Church. He encouraged the sisters to be courageous in religious life and to walk together in the spirit of synodality, reminding them that no one walks alone.<\/p>\n<p>He further advised the Sisters to grow in the communities where they are placed, warning them against being attracted to worldly ways of living.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRemain firm in the vocation to which you have been called to serve the Lord,\u201d he emphasized.<\/p>\n<p>Bishop Wanok also observed that the life of a Religious r can be fully understood only through the lens of the Blessed Virgin Mary&#8217;s motherhood. He affirmed that the presence of government leaders, cultural leaders, and other stakeholders at the celebration demonstrated the importance of consecrated life not only to the Church but also to the nation.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-23757\" src=\"https:\/\/communications.amecea.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Bishops-during-Eucharistic-celebration-at-Mother-House-in-Ngetta.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Addressing the broader social context, Bishop Wanok called for leadership that promotes peace, unity, and human dignity, especially as Uganda approaches an election period.
