{"id":23555,"date":"2025-11-14T21:17:00","date_gmt":"2025-11-14T21:17:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/communications.amecea.org\/?p=23555"},"modified":"2025-11-14T21:17:00","modified_gmt":"2025-11-14T21:17:00","slug":"zambia-archbishop-of-lusaka-honours-departed-clergy-and-consecrated","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/communications.amecea.org\/index.php\/2025\/11\/14\/zambia-archbishop-of-lusaka-honours-departed-clergy-and-consecrated\/","title":{"rendered":"ZAMBIA: Archbishop of Lusaka Honours Departed Clergy and Consecrated"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Diana Chipepo<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Archbishop Alick Banda led the Archdiocese of Lusaka in honouring the memory of departed clergy and consecrated men and women who served with devotion, humility, love, and integrity at Kasisi Cemetery.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday we gather to remember, with special affection, the Clergy and the Consecrated who have gone before us,\u201d he said. \u201cThese brothers and sisters worked amongst us, proclaiming the Word and celebrating the Sacraments.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In his homily, the Archbishop reflected on the sacrifices of those who lived lives of contemplation and service. \u201cSome of their faces are still vivid in our minds,\u201d he noted. \u201cOthers, we may know only through stories. But all of them have left an echo of grace, the love of God threaded into the life of our Local Church.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Drawing from Scripture, he likened their legacy to that of St. Paul\u2019s co-workers in the vineyard of the Lord.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTheir names may not appear in any history books, but they shouldered the burden of evangelization and their names are surely written in God\u2019s hands.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Archbishop Banda stressed that their lives, though not perfect, were marked by faithful generosity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is not about self, not even about success, but faithfulness to God alone,\u201d he reminded the congregation. \u201cThey were faithful in very little\u2026 and that faithfulness, repeated over years and decades, became something great in the eyes of God. May God grant them eternal rest.
