Rev. Francis Aquirinus Kibira Kambale, on 18<sup>th<\/sup> August 2025, received and blessed over one hundred Pilgrims of Hope from the Diocese of Butembo-Beni, DRC<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The group, led by three priests from Holy Cross Parish\u2013Kyavuyiri, was on a one-week pilgrimage to the Uganda Martyrs Shrine in Namugongo, to pray for peace in their country DRC, which has for a good number of years been challenged with insecurity that has led to killing and abduction of religious leaders and civilians.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Pilgrimage follows the attack, carried out by suspected members of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), wielding machetes, that took place at the catholic Church in Ituri province\u2019s Komanda city in July, leaving over 38 people killed and 15 injured.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Several houses and shops were also burned down, and many people remain missing after the attack, which happened while Catholics were attending a prayer vigil at the church.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Addressing the pilgrims at St. John Paul II Memorial Ground, Bishop Kibira commended them for making a special pilgrimage to the Holy Land of Namugongo during this Jubilee Year of Hope.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He prayed for peace in their country and reminded them that the Diocese of Kasese continually prays for peace in the region.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Bishop Kibira also revealed that as the Diocese of Kasese prepares to lead the 2026 Uganda Martyrs celebration at Namugongo, he has written to the Ordinary of the Catholic Diocese of Butembo-Beni, Rt. Rev.
