Catholic bishops from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) have praised the strong relationship between Africa and the United States, which shares a common mission to spread the Gospel of God.<\/p>\n
During the ongoing gathering at the Symposium of Episcopal Conferences of Africa and Madagascar (SECAM) Plenary meeting in Kigali, Rwanda, Archbishop Thomas R. Zinkula of Dubuque<\/span>, Chair of\u00a0 Subcommittee on the Church in Africa<\/span> , highlighted the mutual support that the Church in Africa and America has experienced in evangelization efforts.<\/p>\n Archbishop Zinkula noted that the positive relationship dates back to 2001, when the USCCB issued the pastoral letter “A Call to Solidarity with Africa,” which expressed a commitment to journey alongside Africa.<\/p>\n He stated, \u201cThat letter recognized the great vitality and diversity of the African Church, including its languages, cultures, and faith traditions, as well as the tremendous hope it offers to the global Church. It also acknowledged the genuine challenges faced and pledged our continued support.\u201d<\/p>\n The Archbishop also mentioned that a tangible expression of this solidarity is the establishment of the Solidarity Fund for the Church in Africa, which emerged from this commitment.
