\nThe Chairman of Social
\nCommunications Commission at the Uganda Episcopal Conference (UEC), Rt.  Rev. Joseph Franzelli, Bishop of Lira Diocese,
\nhas appealed to Catholic Communicators in Uganda to acquire more knowledge and
\nskills in Information Communication Technology (ICT) to help improve their work of evangelization in
\ntheir dioceses.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nHe said the use of ICT in evangelization
\nwill provide them with an effective way to reach to large numbers of people who
\nface various challenges in life thus provide inspiration and encouragement. <\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nBishop Franzelli said
\nthis during the opening ceremony of a two-day Website Designing training
\nworkshop that was held in Moroto Diocese from April 20-21, for the Diocesan
\nCommunication Coordinators and journalists who work with Catholic media
\ninstitutions in Uganda.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n\u201cIn today\u2019s world the use of ICT is relevant
\nto many activities and programs of the Church especially in evangelization,\u201d
\nBishop Franzelli said. \u201cWe should therefore make good use of this training by acquiring
\nall the relevant skills in website designing so that we can improve our online
\npresence for our dioceses and serve as vehicles for evangelization and
\ncatechesis.\u201d<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nThe two-day practical workshop, which was
\npart of the Annual Social Communications week, was organized by the Social
\nCommunications Department at UEC. It was designed to equip the communicators
\nwith the necessary skills and knowledge to leverage ICT for evangelization. <\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nSome of the topics
\ndiscussed included, introduction to web designing and online publishing,
\ncreating a website using content management systems, writing for online and
\npublishing articles on website, recording, editing and publishing audio to the
\nweb, capturing pictures, editing and publishing to the web as well as effective
\npublishing and engagement on social media.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nThe Executive Secretary of
\nSocial communications Department at UEC, Rev. Fr. Philip Odii, said that
\ntechnologies are not only changing our way of communicating, but are a platform
\nto living through a period of vast transformation.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n\u201cThe activities in our
\ndiocese in this age of globalization are huge thus we can perform an important
\nservice to our listeners by the selection and transmission of useful data in
\nthis medium,\u201d he said.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nMeanwhile, some of the
\nparticipants expressed their gratitude that the training programme enhanced
\ntheir skills on developing a website for effective reporting and urged the
\norganizers to widen the scope of the program for more people to benefit in
\nfuture.<\/div>\n
\nThe training attracted over
\n40 communicators from 18 dioceses across the nation.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
