{"id":14313,"date":"2022-05-20T17:04:37","date_gmt":"2022-05-20T17:04:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/communications.amecea.org\/?p=14313"},"modified":"2022-05-20T17:04:37","modified_gmt":"2022-05-20T17:04:37","slug":"vatican-laudato-si-week-2022-to-intensify-efforts-against-climate-crisis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/communications.amecea.org\/index.php\/2022\/05\/20\/vatican-laudato-si-week-2022-to-intensify-efforts-against-climate-crisis\/","title":{"rendered":"VATICAN: Laudato Si\u2019 Week 2022 to Intensify Efforts Against Climate Crisis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Sr. Jecinter Antoinette Okoth, FSSA<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The weeklong celebration to mark the seventh anniversary of Pope Francis\u2019 <em>encyclical Laudato Si\u2019<\/em> on care of creation, the faithful and people of good will encourage and <strong>intensify efforts against climate crisis.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>In a message by the Laudato Si\u2019 movement shared with AMECEA online Thursday, May 19, \u201c<\/strong>Hundreds of thousands of Catholics will unite from May 22-29 to celebrate the progress made in bringing <em>Laudato Si\u2019<\/em> to life and intensify their efforts through the Vatican\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mail.laudatosimovement.org\/click.html?x=a62e&amp;lc=zxj&amp;mc=s&amp;s=vzM&amp;u=z&amp;z=BQJmyS1&amp;\"><em>Laudato Si\u2019<\/em> Action Platform<\/a> which aims to empower Catholic institutions, communities, and families to fully implement <em>Laudato Si\u2019<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to Mr. <strong>Tom\u00e1s Insua, Executive Director of Laudato Si\u2019 Movement<\/strong>, \u201cLaudato Si\u2019 Week has blossomed into a global celebration that leaves the faithful feeling inspired to do even more for our common home.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He notes that <em>Laudato Si\u2019<\/em> Week will serve as a fountain of inspiration and lessons learned for all people interested in saving God\u2019s creation and \u201cAmidst chaos and destruction globally, Catholics take urgent action every day against the climate emergency and ecological crisis.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">During the weeklong celebration, Laudato Si\u2019 movement \u201cwill feature global, regional, and local events tied to one of the seven Laudato Si\u2019 goals including: <strong>no more biodiversity collapse: rebalancing social systems with Nature, empowering eco-mmunity: embracing the poor, fossil fuels, violence, and the climate crisis, investing in Laudato Si\u2019, sneak peek: feature documentary on Laudato Si&#8217;, Laudato Si\u2019 festival and community resilience and empowerment as part of our synodal journey.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Laudato Si&#8217; Movement serves the Catholic family around the world to turn Pope Francis&#8217; encyclical letter Laudato Si&#8217; into action for climate and ecological justice.
