\nSudan\u2019s Transitional Government of National Unity <\/b>has been declared after the swearing-in of the opposition leader,
\nRiek Machar, as the First Vice-President shortly after his arrival
\nin the country\u2019s national capital, Juba, on Tuesday, 26 April,2016.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nMachar\u2019s
\nplane touched down in Juba at about 3:45pm. The top opposition leader who
\nchairs the Sudan People\u2019s Liberation Movement (SPLM-IO) was received by several
\nof his senior officials and a number of government ministers.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nMachar,
\nfrom the airport drove straight to the Presidential Palace (J1) where President
\nSalva Kiir, his main rival, but peace partner, was waiting for him. He
\nimmediately took oath
\nof office as first vice president of the world\u2019s youngest nation before
\nPresident Kiir. <\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nThe
\nTransitional Government of National Unity formed retains most old faces from
\nprevious cabinets.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
