{"id":12840,"date":"2021-08-06T15:53:20","date_gmt":"2021-08-06T15:53:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/communications.amecea.org\/?p=12840"},"modified":"2021-08-06T15:53:20","modified_gmt":"2021-08-06T15:53:20","slug":"zambia-catholic-bishops-urge-zambians-to-embrace-peace","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/communications.amecea.org\/index.php\/2021\/08\/06\/zambia-catholic-bishops-urge-zambians-to-embrace-peace\/","title":{"rendered":"ZAMBIA: Catholic Bishops Urge Zambians To Embrace Peace"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Mwenya Mukuka<br \/>\n<\/em><br \/>\nAs Zambia goes to the polls on Thursday August 12, the Catholic Bishops of Zambia have called on political parties to embrace peace.<\/p>\n<p>Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB) President Archbishop Ignatius Chama has said there is need for political parties to denounce any form of violence because there is only one Zambia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cZambia can only remain peaceful if there is political will by the political party leaders. There is need for peaceful, fair and creditable elections,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Archbishop Chama, who is also Archbishop of Kasama, said this in his homily at the National Ecumenical Prayers for Peaceful Elections in Lusaka recently.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">And at the same occasion Vatican Representative, His Excellency Archbishop Gianfranco Gallone prayed for peace in Zambia.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Meanwhile, Archbishop of Lusaka, Most Rev.
