\nThe Bishops
\nof South Sudan and Sudan had audience with Pope Francis on Wednesday in the
\nsideline of their plenary in Rome, Italy and invited him to visit both
\ncountries.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nPope Francis
\nsaid \u201cI am ready. I want to. I want to. I want to. But we have to leave
\neverything in the hands of the Lord\u201d, Vatican Radio reported.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nPope
\nFrancis, who was accompanied by Cardinal Fernando Filoni, greeted each Bishop
\nin the presence of the Apostolic Nuncios of both countries.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nArchbishop
\nof Juba Paulino Lukudu Loro said the \u201cissue of peace\u201d is still a priority in
\nboth countries, especially South Sudan, \u201cbecause we are at war.\u201d<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nHe called on
\nthe Vatican to address the issue of vacant dioceses and providing support for
\nthe local clergy.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nThe Bishops
\nat the meeting discussed peace, poverty and vocations in each country. They
\nthanked the Holy Father during the meeting.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nPope Francis
\ngave them a written message and made sure that all the bishops had it.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n

\nMeanwhile, the
\nreport released by Stockholm International Peace Research Institute or SIPRI on
\nTuesday 19th January, entitled \u201cscenarios for South Sudan in 2020\u201d,
\noutlines possible scenarios for the future pointed out that there is hope for a
\npeaceful future if the 2015 agreement is implemented and the peace process
\nopened up beyond the current parties.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nThe first
\nscenario indicates \u2018united in diversity\u2019 where the agreement is implemented and
\nthe peace process consolidated and deepened.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nThe other
\npicture shows \u2018dictatorship\u2019 and \u201821 Kingdoms\u2019 in which tremendous cost in
\nhuman lives, oppression and the victory of either side may come.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nThe third
\nscenario predicts divided leadership\u2019 where a badly implemented peace process
\nwill lead to renewed war.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nThe last
\nscenario shows \u2018fragmentation\u2019 in which continuation of war may lead to a
\ncomplete breakdown of the governance.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nIf South
\nSudan\u2019s leaders continue to believe that they can potentially win the war,
\nfragmentation of the country is a very likely scenario, warns Dr. Ja\u00efr van der
\nLijn, Head of SIPRI\u2019s Peace Operations and Conflict Management team.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nHe adds that
\nthe international community is unlikely to come to the rescue, in spite of the
\nterrible human suffering and large refugee flows.<\/div>\n
