\nThe
\nEpiscopal Conference of Malawi (ECM) which is comprised of all Catholic Bishops
\nin Malawi met in Lilongwe at Catholic Secretariat for their first plenary in
\nthe year 2016 and among others in attendance was the AMECEA chairman, His
\nEminence Berhaneyesus D. Cardinal Souraphiel, the Apostolic Nuncio to
\nMalawi and Zambia, His Excellence Most Reverend Julio Murat and the Secretary
\nGeneral for AMECEA, Very Reverend Ferdinand Lugonzo.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nIn a statement
\nrelease by Fr. Henry Saindi, Secretary General for ECM, this first plenary
\nmeeting which was held from Monday, January 25 to January, 29and among other
\nthings reflected on financial planning and resource mobilization for the
\nCatholic Church in Malawi and explore new ways of strengthening partnership
\nwith donor organizations such as Trocaire,Caritas Norway and Norwegian Church
\nAid.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n\u201cThe plenaryalso
\nreceived update reports on AMECEA\u2019s Gitanga project, and projects from ECM
\ndevelopment Committee, National Movement Formation Manuals and books in Divine
\nMercy,\u201d reads part of the statement.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nApart from
\nreceiving progress reports pertaining to the Catholic Secretariat, the
\nstatement further states that the Bishops reflected on activities for the Year
\nof Mercy and discussed matters pertaining to priestly formation in the
\nseminaries and received update reports from the Catholic University of Malawi.
\nThey also appraised the present social and political situation and received
\nprogress reports from representatives of the Associations of Catholic religious
\nmen and women and the Association of Diocesan Clergy. <\/div>\n

\nmeetings are held twice every year. In January and June.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
