{"id":11638,"date":"2021-02-05T19:44:41","date_gmt":"2021-02-05T19:44:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/communications.amecea.org\/?p=11638"},"modified":"2021-02-05T19:44:41","modified_gmt":"2021-02-05T19:44:41","slug":"malawi-amidst-sharp-rise-of-coronavirus-cases-pastoral-office-suspends-celebration-of-consecrated-life-and-pmu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/communications.amecea.org\/index.php\/2021\/02\/05\/malawi-amidst-sharp-rise-of-coronavirus-cases-pastoral-office-suspends-celebration-of-consecrated-life-and-pmu\/","title":{"rendered":"MALAWI: Amidst Sharp Rise of Coronavirus Cases, Pastoral Office Suspends Celebration of Consecrated Life and PMU"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<em>Demetria Banda<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Archdiocese of Blantyre\u2019s Pastoral office has canceled the celebration of Consecrated life and Pontifical Missionary Union at the Archdiocese level that was scheduled for 6<sup>th<\/sup> February, 2021 due to directives by the Ministry of Health.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Malawi\u2019s Ministry of Health has directed that there should be no gathering in large numbers due <strong>to a sharp rise<\/strong> in coronavirus cases in the country.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0In a press statement released on 22<sup>nd<\/sup> January, 2021 and signed by the Pastoral Coordinator of the Archdiocese of Lilongwe, Rev. Fr. James Mkwezalamba, this year\u2019s cerebration has been suspended forthwith due to the current impact of Covid 19 on our country.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to the press statement, a new date will be announced later through the office of the director of Pontifical Missionary Societies. \u201cPriests and Religious are however encouraged to celebrate in their parishes the actual day, 2 February, 2021 by either sharing liturgical roles during the Mass and\/ or meals where it is possible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Meanwhile in the Archdiocese of Lilongwe, Fr.
