Dr. Charles Kyallo the Chaplain at Catholic<br \/>\nUniversity of Eastern Africa CUEA.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to <i>AMECEA Online News<\/i> in his office<br \/>\nat the University\u2019s main campus in Langata, Fr. Kyallo said that it is<br \/>\nimportant to first tap the Mercy of God and then go out and distribute it to<br \/>\nothers.<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in; text-align: justify;\">\n\u201cThe main<br \/>\nchannel and avenue through which one taps the Mercy of God is through the<br \/>\nSacrament of Reconciliation. By going to Confession, one embraces God\u2019s mercy<br \/>\nand therefore, he\/she can go out there and experience God\u2019s Mercy with others,\u201d<br \/>\nsays Fr. Kyallo. <\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in; text-align: justify;\">\n\u201cWe at the<br \/>\nCatholic University are emphasizing on the need to go for Confessions as<br \/>\nfrequently as possible in order to benefit from this Extraordinary Jubilee of<br \/>\nMercy.\u201d<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in; text-align: justify;\">\nCUEA<br \/>\nlaunched Year of Mercy on 10th December 2015, with the unveiling of<br \/>\na special banner showing the Mercy of Jesus towards a sinner and the verse<br \/>\n\u201cblessed are the merciful for they shall receive Mercy\u201d Mat. 7:7.<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in; text-align: justify;\">\nFr. Kyallo<br \/>\nexplained that by emphasizing on the Sacrament of Confession, the University<br \/>\nhas scheduled that Monday at three o\u2019clock for priest to be available for<br \/>\nconfession. \u201cWe have over 100 priests in the University and therefore we have<br \/>\nput up a roster for that purpose of listening to confessions.\u201d<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in; text-align: justify;\">\nTo encourage<br \/>\nmore people to go for confessions, the University has invested in a good<br \/>\nconfessional and the priest on duty has to sit in the confessional way ahead of<br \/>\ntime such that neither he nor those going for confession see each other. \u201cThis<br \/>\nis important because we have come to realize that people often shy away from<br \/>\nconfessing to someone they are acquainted,\u201d Fr. Kyallo explained.<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in; text-align: justify;\">\n\u201cThe<br \/>\nconfessional is where the hurt and the oppressed come to meet the soul of<br \/>\nChrist and that environment in which this happens need to be conducive for<br \/>\nopenness in order for one to receive the outpouring of God\u2019s mercy,\u201d he added.<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in; text-align: justify;\">\nThe prayer<br \/>\nfor the Year of Mercy by Pope Francis have also been adequately distributed at<br \/>\nthe University and are collectively recited five times daily during the five<br \/>\ndaily Eucharistic Celebrations at the University. Holy Trinity University<br \/>\nChapel usually has three masses daily; at 7 am, noon and at 5 pm. While St.<br \/>\nBakhita Hostel for women religious students and St. Clare Hostel for lay female<br \/>\nstudents both have daily Eucharistic celebrations at 6.45 pm.<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in; text-align: justify;\">\nThe<br \/>\nuniversity plans to erect a 16 ft. statue of the Divine Mercy in our compound.<br \/>\nLast year during the Year of Faith the University erected a grotto of Our Lady<br \/>\nwhose foundation was blessed by the Apostolic Nuncio to Kenya Most Rev. Charles<br \/>\nDaniel Balvo, and unveiled by Rt. Rev. Paul Kariuki Njiru, Bishop of Embu<br \/>\nDiocese.<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in; text-align: justify;\">\n\u201cTo mark the<br \/>\nYear of Mercy, on the Divine Mercy Sunday, which is the Second Sunday after<br \/>\nEaster, the University will unveil the statue of Divine Mercy led by the Bishop<br \/>\nof Lodwar Diocese Rt. Rev. Dominic Kimengich,\u201d Fr. Kyallo said adding that these<br \/>\nactivities are the \u201cExternal manifestations of our internal convictions.
