ZAMBIA: Mpika Diocese Holds Formation for the Religious

Participants during formation at the Institute of Christian Leadership

Scores of the Religious in the Catholic Diocese of Mpika participated in a two-day Formation at the Institute of Christian Leadership (ICL) in Tazara, Mpika. Religious Sisters and Brothers from various congregations were in attendance.

Mpika Diocese Director of Pastoral Programmes, Rev. Fr. John Sinkala, officially opened the gathering.

The Formation was an initiative of Rt. Rev. Edwin Mwansa Mulandu, the Bishop of Mpika.

“The ongoing Formation was arranged by His Lordship Edwin Mwansa Mulandu that the Religious should be undergoing ongoing Formation,” Fr. Sinkala told Yusufu Radio after the official opening. He praised the unique efforts of the Religious in health and education.

“The Religious in this Diocese are important and their work is appreciated by the Church. These are the people managing our health and education institutions. The Religious have a special charism, so when they work in education or health, they do it uniquely like no other,” Fr. Sinkala said.

The facilitators were Rev. Fr. Petros-Mwansa Mapenga and Rev. Fr. Dr. Ronald Kalasani.

Psychology, Liturgy and the Jubilee are some of the topics being tackled.

Speaking on behalf of the Religious, Rev. Sr. Mary Kabinda from Chilonga Mission Hospital thanked Bishop Mulandu for this initiative.
