UGANDA: A People’s Shepherd: Ugandan Bishop Eulogizes Pope Francis

The fallen Holy Father has been described by Rt. Rev. Francis Aquirinus Kibira Kambale the Ordinary of Kasese, as a leader who defended peace, unity, nature, and protected the rights of the poor and the marginalized.
In his homily while presiding over a Special Holy Mass at Our Lady of Assumption Kasese Cathedral Church, Bishop Kibira noted that Pope Francis is a celebrated Church leader who remained consistent in preaching about unity and helping the vulnerable, including the poor, People with disabilities, the marginalized, Refugees, and protecting unborn babies.
Bishop Kibira commended the late Pope Francis for his encyclical on Laudato Si and the special message to care for Mother Earth, without which there is no life.
The Bishop who called for change of approaches by Church leaders, tasked Priests and Laity council heads to think deeper about the possibilities of establishing investments as alternative income sources than to solely depend on the poor Christians who also need guidance on how to generate incomes and the importance of saving for the future.
On his part the former Kasese district FDC chairman, Mr. Saulo Maate described the late Pope Francis as God sent Master of environmental conservation and peace who practically preached about the need to protect rights of the needy, including, refugees and the poor, as well as promoting peace and unity for all in poor countries.
On Tuesday, April 22, Bishop Kibira celebrated Mass for the repose soul of Pope Francis, who was not only a pillar of unity to the church but also a fighter against environmental degradation and for peace.
