In his pastoral letter for 2025 Lent and Easter themed ‘He Was Put To Death For Our Trespasses And Raised For Our Justification’ from Romans 4:25, Archbishop Philip Anyolo of Nairobi Archdiocese, Kenya, has disclosed the different initiatives including educational and formation programs for priests and religious that the Archdiocese of Nairobi has rolled out.
These are designed to inspire hope, foster unity, and encourage spiritual renewal through the Jubilee year 2025 which was officially launched in the Archdiocese of Nairobi on 29th December 2024.
“In preparation for the spiritual journey of the Jubilee, training sessions and workshops are being organized for priests and Religious”.
In the letter, he highlights that the sessions will “focus on the significance of the Holy Door of Hope and equip clergy with the tools to guide the faithful in understanding and experiencing the graces of the Jubilee Year”.
Since the launching of the Jubilee year in the Archdiocese, the prelate highlights the realized initiatives in celebrating 2025 Jubilee year, and recalls the walking together in faith and Eucharistic celebration that was organized under the banner “Walking Together in Faith: Celebrating the Jubilee Year of Consecrated Life”, which brought together members of the Institute of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life (ICLSAL), and noted that “the event was aimed at uniting members of consecrated life and the broader community on a shared spiritual journey, reinforcing the idea that renewal is a collective mission”.
The prelate also outlined his letter numerous programs focused on social justice, reconciliation, and outreach to the less fortunate.
“Reflecting the Jubilee’s theme of hope that “does not disappoint,” the Archdiocese has also launched a series of mercy initiatives. These projects are tailored to local needs ranging from social outreach programs to reconciliation efforts that invite parishioners to act as agents of change in their communities”.
He added “Together, these initiatives are part of a comprehensive strategy by the Archdiocese of Nairobi to mobilize the community around a shared vision of hope, transformation, and active participation in God’s renewing work during the Jubilee Year 2025”.
