UGANDA: Bishop Wanok Calls for Stronger Clergy Cooperation to Achieve Ministry Success in Lira Diocese

The Bishop of Lira Diocese has emphasized the importance of unity, collaboration, and accountability among the clergy to ensure the success of ministry efforts within the Diocese.
In his remarks at the official opening of a one-day workshop on financial literacy and business management for priests in Lira Diocese, Rt. Rev. Sanctus Lino Wanok highlighted that the governance of the Diocese relies entirely on the unity and collaboration of its clergy. The event took place at the Apostolic Social Center in Lira City.
The workshop, led by a team of financial experts from Centenary Bank led by Professor Rogers Matama aimed to equip priests with essential financial management skills to enhance the operations of their respective parishes and institutions within the Diocese.
Bishop Wanok emphasized that the success of pastoral activities in the Diocese depends heavily on the cooperation of the clergy, pastoral agents, and the Christian community as a whole. He also stressed the importance of transparency and accountability in managing finances, temporal goods, and the overall administration of the Church’s institutions.
The workshop covered several key topics, including the current business environment, emotional intelligence, financial resilience, management, governance, and business sustainability, among others.
Other areas covered during the workshop included a presentation on seed Money, the development intention of the Diocese, and a focus on the financial base of the Diocese as presented by Fr. Okori Boniface, the financial administrator of Lira diocese.
The workshop was organized by the pastoral coordinator’s office in collaboration with the finance office of the diocese after the fatherly guidance from the Bishop of Lira diocese and the Vicar General.
