Rt. Rev. Francis Aquirinus Kibira Kambale, the Ordinary of the Diocese of Kasese has argued political leaders at different levels against what he called spicing the living conditions in their district to please President Museveni than telling him about the reall challenges affecting the locals.
Addressing diocesan stakeholders during a meeting held at Kasese Secondary School to review strategies for the new Cathedral construction, Bishop Kibira asked politicians to present the land challenges before President Museveni for a possible solution now that land in the district is over squeezed by national parks, rivers, forests and lakes, leaving the locals almost with nothing.
Kasese as a district is challenged with number of land disputes including Kabukero, Bigando, Ngoko, Kirembe and Buyinanule land among others which for years has failed to be resolved but continue claiming life of citizen in a fight for boundaries.
Referring to the region, a former major producer of bananas and coffee that they abandoned over selfish political sentiments, the bishop argued the locals against mixing politics with matters of development, presenting Buganda as an importer of every crop, animal and bird products they formerly produced.
On the new Cathedral project, Bishop Kibira said the construction requires sacrifice that Christians, God fearing people and the Church leaders ought to undertake to complete the construction works.
The bishop gave all Parishes in the Diocese up to ninety days, ending with June, to have completed their shares for the new Cathedral construction.
