Most Rev. Alick Banda has announced the establishment of a new parish in Lusaka Archdiocese.
The establishment of St. Luke parish officially recognizes it as a stable community of Christ’s faithful.
Archbishop Banda made the announcement as he concluded his pastoral visitation to St. Michael’s Parish–Lusaka West, where he conferred the Sacrament of Confirmation on 80 candidates.
In his homily, Archbishop Banda emphasized the need for spiritual renewal, urging believers to choose virtue over vengeance.
He contrasted King Saul’s jealousy with David’s restraint, warning against the dangers of power obsession.
The Archbishop has challenged the faithful to embrace radical love, forgiveness, and selflessness, following Christ’s example.
“Following Jesus means walking in His footsteps,” he said. “It entails never returning evil for evil, doing good without expecting anything in return, being merciful beyond measure, generous beyond expectation, and magnanimous beyond comprehension.”
St. Luke assumes the same rights and privileges as all other parishes in the Archdiocese.
