The Catholic Church in Zambia has expressed its solidarity with Pope Francis who is ill undergoing treatment at Gemelli Hospitalization in Rome, joining the global Catholic community in prayer for his swift recovery.

In a message conveyed through Most Rev. Ignatius Chama, President of the Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB), the Church in Zambia assured the Holy Father of the prayers and support of the faithful.

Archbishop Chama emphasized that upon learning of the Pope’s illness, Catholics across Zambia united in prayer for his healing and well-being.

Meanwhile, in Lusaka, the Metropolitan Archbishop, Most Rev. Alick Banda, has called upon the clergy, Religious communities, and lay faithful to continue praying for Pope Francis.

He highlighted the importance of unity within the Church, urging all people of goodwill to keep the Pope in their thoughts.

“The Archdiocese of Lusaka, in union with the Local Church and together with all people of good will, joins its fervent prayers for the Holy Father,” stated Archbishop Banda.

The messages from Zambian bishops reflect the Church’s unwavering commitment to its spiritual leader, demonstrating a spirit of compassion and support during this time of need.
