The Youth Department of the Archdiocese of Lusaka has held a Media Conference for all parish media teams.
Speaking at the event, Archdiocesan Youth Chaplain Fr. Alex Tembo said the Conference, which took place on Saturday, 22nd February 2025, at the Cathedral of the Child Jesus in Lusaka, aimed to equip youth leaders and media teams with essential skills to effectively use media as a tool for evangelization.
Fr. Tembo noted that the initiative aligns with the Archdiocesan Youth Action Plan for 2025. Highlighting the significance of the event, he cited the Second Vatican Council’s decree on Social Communications (Inter Mirifica), which recognizes the media as a powerful means of spreading the Gospel.
Some of the key topics covered included video shooting, article writing, ethics of journalism, artificial intelligence in media, and its relation to sacred liturgy.
These sessions were led by a diverse group of facilitators with expertise in these fields and aimed to enhance the effectiveness of Catholic youth in communicating the faith in the digital era.
“With the growing influence of digital platforms, the Church acknowledges the need for well-trained media personnel who can responsibly and creatively use modern technology to spread Christian values,” Fr. Tembo emphasized.
He further urged other dioceses to organize similar conferences to strengthen digital evangelization efforts.
The conference attracted over 200 youths.
