University students in Malawi have been encouraged to prioritize the life of the Sacraments despite the challenges of academic commitments.

During his homily at the Eucharistic celebration for confirmation of students at the University of Malawi (UNIMA) last Sunday, the Prelate of the Diocese of Zomba Rt. Rev. Alfred Mateyu Chaima emphasized that students should keep the love of the Sacraments close to their hearts.

“Sacraments are God’s gifts to us ‘Pilgrims of Hope’. To you, my brothers and sisters who are receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation today, bring forth your gifts for the good of the Church and society,” said Bishop Chaima.

The Prelate also urged the students to place God first in all aspects of their lives, including their studies.

During the Eucharistic celebration, ten students from the University of Malawi received the Sacrament of Confirmation.

The University has approximately 3,000 Catholic students out of a total enrollment of about 12000. The University of Malawi is known for having a vibrant Catholic community, where students maintain their Catholic identity through praying together and active participation during Mass and other liturgical celebrations.
