The Church in Africa and the Islands has sent a heartfelt message of support and solidarity to His Holiness, Pope Francis, during his recent hospitalization at the Agostino Gemelli University Policlinic in Rome.

The message, signed by Fridolin Cardinal AMBONGO the President Symposium of Episcopal Conferences of Africa and Madagascar (SECAM) and Archbishop of Kinshasa, and addressed to the Holy Father reads, “Through this message, we wish to reaffirm the solidarity and spiritual closeness of all the members of SECAM and the entire Church across the continent and its islands,”.  They also assured Pope Francis of the Church’s prayers for complete recovery.

The message comes amid global concern for the Holy Father’s health, with Catholics worldwide offering prayers for his well-being hoping he recovers to full strength.

Pope Francis, 88, was admitted to the Gemelli Hospital earlier this month due to bronchitis.

The Vatican has since reported that his condition is stable and that he continues to recover under medical supervision.
