The Archdiocese of Ndola has officially launched the Jubilee Year of Hope with Archbishop Benjamin Phiri emphasizing the themes of hope, peace, and love.
The Eucharistic celebration to mark the launch, which was celebrated on Saturday, January 11, 2025, begun with the solemn rite of the opening of the Holy Door at Christ the King Cathedral in Ndola.
Archbishop Phiri led scores of priests, Religious and lay faithful during the Eucharistic celebration.
In his homily, he said the Jubilee Year was centered on inspiring hope in a troubled world filled with strife. He urged Christians to cultivate good relationships with God and one another during this Jubilee Year and beyond.
“A year of the Jubilee is a year of reconciliation and forgiveness. Some of the burdens we have been carrying for a long time have now hardened and become obstacles. This is the time to break them and let them go. Let us reconcile with one another,” Archbishop Phiri said.
“Let’s approach those we find difficult to deal with and seek friendship, love, and reconciliation for the sake of God. The Jubilee is a time to start anew. Therefore, as we engage in activities during this Jubilee Year, let them flow from deep within our hearts with genuine goodwill for one another.”
Archbishop Phiri called on everyone in the Archdiocese of Ndola to actively participate in the Jubilee Year of Hope.
The Jubilee Year of Hope will now be launched in deaneries and parishes across the Archdiocese.
Pope Francis inaugurated the global 2025 Jubilee Year of Hope on December 24, 2024, and it will conclude on January 6, 2026.
