The newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of the Catholic University of Malawi, Prof. Francis Moto, has taken an oath of office and called on the staff to unite in order to achieve the university’s vision.
Addressing the staff after the oath-taking ceremony held in the University Chapel on Friday afternoon, Prof. Moto emphasized the importance of collaboration, encouraging everyone to support his vision by sharing their knowledge and expertise.
“Let us work as one team driven by the same passion,” said Prof. Moto.
He also expressed gratitude to the Episcopal Conference of Malawi (ECM) for entrusting him with the “great task” of leading the university.
Echoing Prof. Moto’s sentiments, the Vice-Chairman of the University Council, Rt. Rev. Alfred Mateyu Chaima, stressed the need for collaborative work with the new leader.
“Always remember: if he succeeds, he succeeds with each one of you. If he fails, he fails together with you,” Bishop Chaima stated.
He further commended Prof. Moto for accepting the role of Vice-Chancellor at the Catholic University of Malawi.
Prof. Moto is the fourth individual to hold the position of Vice-Chancellor, succeeding Associate Prof. Ngeyi Ruth Kanyongolo, who died in October 2024.
