A one-day briefing on the Second Session of the 16th Ordinary General Synod of Bishops and its Final Document was conducted on January 2nd, 2025, in Barentu to all parish priests, Religious congregations, and catechists of the Eparchy, Eritrea, led by Archbishop Menghisteab Tesfamariam.

He explained that “Synod means walking together, and synodality involves returning to our origins”, stressing that “it is a kind of spirituality of those who walk together and in harmony”.

He emphasized that the content of the final document is calling for a “change and renewal of the entire Church, Parishes, dioceses, associations, families, and individuals”.

In his concluding remarks, Archbishop Tesfamariam urged the attendees to draw inspiration from the Apostle Peter, quoting Peter’s words to Christ, “We struggled the whole night to catch fish but caught nothing. I am sending the net in Your name”, encouraging the participants to spread the message of Christ and share what they had learned without hesitation.

“We struggled the whole night to catch fish but none we get. I am sending the net in your name” was peter’s response to Christ’s order. “Today I am also reminding you to go and spread the word of God to all in the name of Christ. Please share with others what you heard today and don’t be silent.”
